was there a January 1, 1971 law that fenders had to have crumple zones? My early fenders have nothing on the inside edge where the hood meets the fender between the rubber bumpers. this photo is from a 1972 Demon and you can see the upside down triangles near the fender mounting bolts.
I am looking for a mint pair of late Demon /Dart fenders WITH the upside down triangles. prefer no body side moldings.

I can't help with the fenders, but where did the Demon pic come from? Appears to be a Mr Norms GSS.

I know early 70 Challenger hoods have no crumple zone reliefs in the bracing.

The originals on my 71 Demon had the “bumps” as well as the AMD replacements. It was built 10/70. I’d think the “bumps” would give the flange more strength plus maybe allow some give in that area.

do you mean on the rail that has the fender bolts just it front of the hood hinges?

Demon was in barn find @ 2017 MCACN show in Chicago. It was purchased and is now being restored with all NOS parts. Yes a Mr Norm’s GSS 1972 Demon Paxton supercharger

These are the fenders that were added to my late 1971 built Dart.
Note no triangles (crumple zones) between rubber bumpers
