I might have what you need . How many screws hold it to the quarter 3 or 4? should be 4 on a dart. What year is the body?

Here are the differences. Dart body is 4 screws . Duster and demon 3. But the year is what the real difference is.

67-71 the flange goes on the inside of the quarter and the screws go through the quarter and thread into the flange of the tube

72 -76 the flange is on the outside of the quarter and the screw go through the flange and thread into the quarter. They also changed the difference on the depth of the recess of in the quarter on different years. That is why some caps stick out on cars people don't realize there is a difference. Get me a picture of your opening on the car. Steve 610-533-9917

Ok the screw holes are big so the filler tube goes on the inside . So 70 and older should work ,right?

The tanks are the same except for the extra vent on a 72 tank. I will go down and check for a 70 dart neck.
I understand the original tanks are the same except vent on the tank. But the repro 70 tanks is not a correct 70 tank.

I do not have any. But I pulled a 71 dart and a 72 dart the 72 is 3 inches longer then the 71. here are pictures of the difference. the one with the foam is a 71 it has screw holes. the 72 just has notches. What is wrong with your tube and can you send a picture of it

I have a 68 and a 70 tube but both have rust inside. Have the original 72 tube and you are correct. Is longer and different flange.

I'm not concern about it being correct. I mainly wanted the earlier 18 gal tank versa the 71 and up 16 gal tank.

Okay The 70 tank they sell is a 68, 69 style and it fits very tight and wrinkles the floor gasket because the filler tube hole is in the wrong spot.
