TF727 part throttle shift points

-
Yes it moves it out, but I had another look at ur pic and see ur kit has 1 cable above/ below the other so it may not work properly. The factory mopar linkage fits on a stud that mounts on to the Holley linkage side by side. I’ll see if I can get u a pic. Kim

Here ya go. This is a factory dodge carb so it doesn’t use the Holley adaptor. Kim

I am using the exact same Lokar cable setup on mine with no problem. Been on about 10 yrs. (approx 20,000 miles) now and only had to adjust the slack twice. Like Tom mentioned 727's are notorious for shift rpm inconsistency, but yours is backwards from what I usually see. Generally the 2-3 shift rpm is low compared to the 1-2 shift. If I'm not mistaken the TF-2 kit comes with a spring to install in the part throttle KD valve, but it might totally eliminate part throttle kickdown. Get the ratio of the carb travel equalized with the trans lever travel and that should help. One last thing, I watched your video and agree with Rusty that it really don't sound that bad where it is. 318's like to rev so I'd leave it alone if it were mine

Yeah. I agree. I don’t think that lever is what we’re looking for.

We will concentrate our efforts in the transmission arm.

Thank you again though. I appreciate everyone’s help

I agree. But, that was the earliest I could get it to shift into 2nd. Lol. 50 mph.

Once I get the arc right, we will discuss shift points. Lol. I’d be good with 2500 rpm I think

The cable at the trans comes in from the rear correct?

Can u post a pic of the lever on the tranny. There is a few different lengths. Kim

I just looked through my photos and don’t have one of the TV lever.

I do remember it being a longer one.

However……

On my way home from work this afternoon, I decided to take a stroll through the local pick your part yard.

I found an easily accessible Dodge truck transmission from 1998. And low and behold it has the short kick down arm on it and a bracket.

This could work out pretty good to match the geometry of the Holley carb.

At least it’s more options for tomorrow when we dive into it.

Very productive day today.

Thank you everyone for all of your help on this issue.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

We measured out the throw on the carburetor end.

The TV arm that we had on the transmission was REALLY long.

The shorter 1998 Dodge Ram arm we scavenged from the junk yard was the perfect length to match the carb arm throw.

We swapped arms and reset the kickdown cable and went out for a test drive.

We adjusted it back and forth about 1/8” at a time and finally found the sweet spot.

The part throttle shift speeds are between 1800-2200 1-2 and 2-3 and the kickdown function is working as it should with the TF2 kit.

Geometry for the win!!!!!!

Thank you again everyone for the help as always.

Thanks. Eric and Jason

Tranny pics need to be posted in the blue room. We might have children watchin. lol

Now it's time for the burnout video.

Now it's time for the burnout video.

That brings up another good question.

Every transmission has a burnout procedure to prevent messing it up.

What is the correct way to do a burnout with a factory valvebody 727?

Awesome that you got that worked out!
That dang throttle pressure adjustment is sooooooooo critical! Ask me how I know!
