Installed my hood insulation yesterday and now the air cleaner lid imprints/compresses the hood insulation.

Anyone have luck with the

K&N 85-3545 dropped base

340/ RPM performer intake/ 1/4” base plate gasket spacer/ 1405 EDDY carb

Any help thanks before I buy.

I looked at that one. The one from Mancini looks just like the K&N.

Takes forever for Mancini to ship stuff to the left coast. Can get one in 2 days instead of two weeks if the Kn will work. Can paint the chrome one black of course.

Anyone know if either one interferes with the kickdown linkage and an Eddy carb?

Good points Dave, those are the little but important points people don't. Often think of until its time to button things up.
I also think its a failing on many known aftermarket manufacturers that don't point out or give extra instructions of probable mods needed ( eg I've looked at a few Ford & GM Aircleaner bases & its surprising the bumps, dips , pips & flats etc built in for STK Carbs )

Here is a pic of the same drop base on a Eddy carb. As you can see though, I'm using a Lokar cable set up for the throttle and kick down with no clearance issues.
I had to go with a drop base due to running the tall Performer RPM intake on my 440.

Informative Pic ! That's a nice orange shade too: makes the Edel look near stock ..
Cheers T

I just completed a special drop base hood to throttle body set up , that has a filter. I have a dropped base like the second pic I did not use, a new alum. 1 3/4" drop base , and a new 12x8" x2'' oval filter I tried to incorporate but didn`t use .
All are for sale cheap if interested, will put them in the "for sale" eventually--------

Guess I am lucky with my 383 and TM-6. The factory unsilenced cleaner does leave a mark on the hood insulation. I ran a Moroso drop cleaner for many years and only had to round the top of the kick down rod link end a little to clear it.

Have you checked to be sure your engine mounting is square and level on the K? Does it mark fully or just on one side of the insulation?

Will find out tomorrow. Will be able to work on car.
