Oil pump.... reuse or buy new?

Yea I know lol I'm in so far I'm at the point of getting nervous about it. If something goes wrong it's to late to turn around now.

It's not going to go wrong. If you have second thoughts about anything, that's why we're here. Just ask. You're gonna be fine.

That's right...at this point, pedal to the metal and build! Another victim succumbs to 'hot rod fever' LOL
Yes this 150 dollar regasket job had turned into quite more!! Lol
My wife will never let me live it down. She is already bringing it up all the time. When I say oh that won't be bad i can fix it in a day. She will say oh like that car you can get running for 150 bucks that you have 2 grand In and it still ain't running? Haha i just say...yes dear!

thatchit never ends. It's the one thing Daddy shouldda emphasized before you ever started dating. I did and my son still ain't married, but now with a third kid on the way, lol. He was over 31 when he finally "took a wife"; he is a good listener. Well when it suits him........

I'm fortunate to have a good one. She always supports my hobbies even when they get expensive. But I never take money from the family anything that I spend is either stuff I sold or overtime. Which I work alot of overtime anyway but I don't like working overtime for myself because then I feel like I'm taking time away from the family. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

Someday, when this is all sorted out and the car is on the road, you'll walk out of the house, then run back in raving about 'my car has been stolen'. Then the kids will say "Mom said she wanted to take it to the grocery store." LOL

Yea your probably right I hope so anyway because she has spend the last 17 years hating my car. I took her out in it twice. Once on our 2nd date and at that time it was like 3 different colors where I was doing body work and she hid down where her friends wouldn't see her. We got into our first fight that night! Haha.
The 2nd time is when I locked the engine up we was about 60 miles from home and she had to help me push it off the road Haha. This was back before we had cellphones and we had to walk and find a payphone and hitch a ride back home it was embarrassing to say the least. But she stayed with me Haha

20 years later I'm still paying for that, lol.
And she still won't ride in that car.
She says it hurts her neck, She's such a girl!
I'm betting mine won't either. In her mind its still gonna be the old beat up slant six all over again. She is probably gonna be a little mad the first time I stand in it. Haha
If I can even get her to ride with me. Lol

Got this in today thanks dgibby!!

LOL that is too much....!

Lol if we ever get the pleasure of meeting one another just ask my wife what she thinks about my car Haha.
My wife would reply who's car ? She learned how to drive in my 67 fastback with big block and 4.56 gears way back in 1981. lol where do you think I got all the money to throw into it over the years. WHO'S CAR !!! ?

Haha my wife wants a 57 belair that's the only classic she really cares anything about. Some day I will build her one.

I had planned on buying a new one they are only about 40 bucks but I was looking and my old one and took it apart just to see how it worked and I don't see a whole lot that could go wrong or wear out. Should I just save the 40 bucks and reuse the old one?
The old one came off a 318 at they the same pressure as a 360 pump?
Measure critical specs with shim stock, if within tolerance, run it again imho.

if it not torn up or had a bunch of metal go through it
measure
you can sand on a flat plate or glass plate to reduce end clearance
but if the shaft wobbles...
