As part of my 73 Dart 340 Sport build, I installed a new ignition switch from RockAuto. Now that I've cranked the engine and verified that end of the electrics, I have a problem that I think is the switch. When I put the switch in ACC I get no power to the accessories - no radio, wipers, blower motor. I checked the plug end of the new switch for continuity between the Red feed wire and the Black ACC wire with the switch in ACC. Nothing. I pulled the switch from the column and checked for continuity where the wires are soldered to the switch housing. Again, with the switch in ACC there is no continuity between the Black ACC wire and the Red feed wire. Looks to me like the switch is bad but figured I'd check with the experts here before getting another one.

as long as you are sure it is wired correctly, you have the correct switch and you can get power to those accessories via a hot lead then yea, it's probably the switch

Thanks. I'm pretty sure everything is correct wiring-wise. I'll do a check through the connector with a hot lead and see what happens.

I had the same issue with aftermarkets replacement switch ( forget where I bought it ). It didn't bother me a bit. Testing this new switch was the first time I had rotated the switch backward in years, so I really didn't know if it had worked before.

Had a new standard motor products that would lose power from start to run. Car would start and die going to run.

Thought I'd post an update for anyone looking to order an ignition switch from Rock Auto. Got the new switch the other day, made by WVE Electronics, an NGK subsidiary. Checked it out prior to installation - put the switch in ACC (one step clockwise from OFF) and checked for continuity between the red power wire and the black ACC wire. Still nothing. Called the tech department at WVE and talked to a good guy there. Said I should have continuity between the wires and he did not know what was wrong. Told me he would order a switch from the warehouse and check it out. So on Monday I should know what's going on. This is the second switch I've gotten and both had the same issue. I'll post here what I find out, maybe save someone else from going though this.

You have a wiring diagram/ shop manual? You can download them free from MyMopar

There is only one BATTERY going in from there you should have the folllowing:

From BATT

In ACC only the ACC line out should be hot

In "RUN" the ACC line out and the "RUN" (IGN1) should be hot

In START both the ACC and the RUN line out is COLD!!!!

In START you should have the START contact hot (usually yellow) and the IGN2 bypass circuit, usually brown

Yep, have the diagram. In fact I printed it out and taped onto a long piece of cardboard several months ago. The switch works like your post, except there's nothing from the black ACC wire.

Nope, my switch is all the way CCW off, one step CW is acc, then run, then start.

^No not correct^ Locked , key out

Insert key, on click to left is ACC

Back to lock CW, then one click to OFF, then "run" then "start" continuing CW

67dart273, you're one of the smartest guys on this site, but incorrect here. Or I've got a bastard setup. Key in, lock cylinder lined up with the raised line on the column housing, key can be removed, is Off. Key will not turn CCW from this position. Will only turn CW to acc, then run, then start. Just to check the switch, not the cylinder, I tried every position with meter on the red wire and black wire. No continuity in any position.

This is starting to sound like linkage out of adjustment. With either automatic or stick, the trans must be in park (auto) or reverse (stick) for the column to go to lock

I realize you said yours is 73, this is for '70.............

Here, from MyMopar, is video and pdf on the subject

Ignition off shown above serves as unlocked off for the alignment guy, etc... Every brand/model that has wheel lock has this unlocked off key position.
