Cinnamon 75 Duster \

Not much happening with the car itself. Thought it was done for Winter a while ago. I did get out for a drive Christmas eve. And again today, taking advantage of the 50F+ temp and (unusual for this time of year) salt free roads! Didn't go far. Found myself pulling into Rodney's driveway. LOL Got to check out his progress and we popped his back window out so he can add some trim.

But my big news, I do have a rear bumper on it's way from California! Thanks to @Steve Agrella for a great deal on this freshly re-chromed beauty. And could not happen without @Mopar Tim handling the deal and transport for me. :thankyou: He will be bringing it to Carlisle this summer. In the meantime I will work on getting a suitable pair of bumperettes...

Nothing but rechromed bumperettes will look good on there. I have a set I'll let go. but I would rechrome anything you get.

Yeh, pretty sure you are right. The old ones have too much rust inside them. I would not spent the money to re-do them. So definitely looking to get another pair. Would be nice to find some ready to use, but doubt that will happen.

I am pretty sure I have front set you can have.
I will dig them out in the next few days.

I think they all rust on the inside. Not sure if the chrome is thin on the inside or what.

I expect they all have at least some surface rust. I think any chrome on the inside was just whatever stuck. Mine were extreme rust (like most of the car) Had to replace the bolts. They were gone along with part of the inner structure. I'm sure there are some out there with minimal rust. The ones I got with the front bumper from Arizona looked great.

Had to say goodbye to my companion for the last 10 years. The Magnum got sideswiped by someone who could not control their vehicle. :mad:Doesn't matter how good you maintain your ride, how new your tires are, or that you have AWD. :BangHead: Insurance is more than happy to say its totaled based on some numbers in there computer. :wtf: I thought about buying it back and fixing, but would have been a salvage cert. I would have ended up with almost the full value in it till I was done with it and would have been lucky to have it back on the road by Summer. Just not worth the hassle. Had a rental for 2 weeks. Took that back today. Gonna drive the wife's Journey while I search for a beater. Cinnamon is not going out in the salt.

When one door closes, another opens.
Do the doors open?
nope. Don't know if they ever got them open. Estimate included pull and repair that center door pillar. Something I was not bye rested in attempting myself.

Shame it doesn't even look totaled.
No it doesn't. They total now at 60-70% of value. It was at about 90%. Fender, doors, quarter in front of back wheel and paint. Adds up quick. '05 with high miles does not book well...

used panels would fix that fairly cheaply surely. opening the doors to swap them out is only a matter of cutting the outer skin off to access the catch inside. i'm a firm believer in 'better the devil you know', you may buy a replacement and have no end of issues with it.
neil.

That was my plan till I found out how much of a pain it is to get through the red tape of getting it back on the road. Once it is totaled. it gets a 'salvage certificate'. Cant just throw doors on and drive anymore. I swapped a front clip on a Volare my dad totaled years ago and had it right back on the road. Now we need to pretty much 'restore' it to pass the state inspection and get a reconstructed title. Can take months and multiple inspections. If you don't have a trailer to drag it back and forth that can get expensive. I don't have th $ to tieup in another vehicle I cant drive till probably this summer. Just was not worth the fight for me. It's gone now.

I am temporarily not gold, so no pics in PMs. :BangHead:
I need to check back... not sure if I painted the steering wheel. It looks darker. Pics comparing underside of the original dash to dash and wheel. Looks darker next to dash in pic, but Lighter next to steering. ??? I think the SEM on the dash looks very close to the original in person. Very difficult to compare colors in pics.

Thanks for the pictures! I don’t have much to lose (except the cost of the can) trying that SEM paint on my wheel as it’s a second wheel that’s not even close to the original brown dash color in my Scamp now.

Here’s a gratuitous shot of another cinammon Plymouth:

I think the steering wheel is molded plastic similar to headrests vs dash which is vinyl. If they were ever exactly the same, they probably did not hold their color equally. I am pretty sure I did not paint the wheel. Will probably do that at some point.

Washed and waxed today. Touched up a few paint chips including a big one right behind the canopy top. Still glad I did my quick n cheap paint to get it on the road when I did. Has been almost 2 years. Just hope it doesn't start major peeling. I think my big mistake was not spraying PPG sealer between primer and paint. It seams like the PPG paint just layed over the rustoleum and never formed a good bond.
