Bear in mind it ain't here yet, and I can't get the money 'til Monday. But "we made a deal" and shook on it. Belonged to the guy's gramps. The heater is "crazy" I'm guessing vacuum pump problems. Thing runs, shifts and drives nice. 5 speed, big cab and even has cruise control!! $5K, 144K miles, it's turboed, are they all? Had 'er up "a bit over 70" on the highway for a brief bit, drives great

Got some battle scars here and there, a tear at the seat corner, but it's not really "beat." Underside looks clean, local truck and no rust The thing is 2WD which is really what I want for towing etc

Ad had been up on C/L for about an hour, when I got out there the guy said the phone was ringin' off the hook LOL

Good deal!! I have an 02 4x4 automatic myself, I love it. I do want to do a 5 speed swap on mine sometime though.

Heck yeah! 144K on a gen1. That's a smokin deal.

Or is that the 24 valve emblem? Hard to tell.

all Dodge Cummins were turbo. Pretty sure 24v were not out yet.
SMOKIN DEAL !

Pun intended? LOL Gonna be a long wait 'til Monday. Guy took the ad down, so I'm thinkin he's serious about holding it for me.

I'm also pleasantly surprised how easy the clutch is to operate. My legs are not the best any more

I cannot read it, but the emblem appears to say it's the 24 valve.

Great truck Del. Awesome deal. If it’s a quad cab very few were 12 valve. Mostly 24 valve. Check the vacuum on it. But more than likely it’s electrical. They like to break the blend door in them. Also the way the heater core is in there they clog up with sediment and then u don’t have much heat. Kim

This seems to be controls. It was heating no matter where the top knob was placed, I turned down the temp control to cool it down. Yeah, "internet wisdom" indicates it's 24V I just see my bank drive up is evidently open tomorrow, I may have it before Monday!!

Just got off egag and ordered a paper printed OEM shop manual

That's a gen 2, Bubba.

Gen 1 has the OG body style and a rotary pump.

144k miles is definitely low. Biggest problem with an older CTD is the dodge around the motor starts to fall apart.

See where I went back and said 24 valve? You're a fake Jesus. He would have known that. Dork.

WHAT A STEAL! Congratulations on the buy! My dad bought himself a 24v as soon as they came out. Amazing truck and he still babies it to this day, 20ish years later. As far as the heater goes, I just hope its not your heater core, that is one hell of a job to do... ask me how I know. Also, re-route your main black vacuum line and the green vacuum line that run right next to the heater core along the firewall, to the front side of the heater box as soon as they go out (trust me, they will) and that will eliminate a lot of headaches in the future. Have fun!

Still ain't no gen 1, Bubba. It's okay to edit your post if you made a booboo.

Why wont you accept me into your heart?

I don't need to edit it, dummy. I corrected it when I said 24 valve. We all know the 24 valve ain't a gen 1. At least everyone but you evidently.

1st gen is 89-93, my child. That body style cant be a 1st gen, 24 or 12v. A camel could easier fit through a crack than that truck being anything but a 2nd gen.

As my disciple Kuato once said: "Quaid, open your mind..."

Sweet score, OP! It's nice to see people still selling a CTD for a decent price.

I know that, sir. I told you twice now. I said gen 1 and then corrected myself under that when I said 24 valve. And Kuato was a nasty little greasy bald headed mutant bastard. Damn he was gross.

Kuato was another beautiful creation, despite his upsetting appearance. He opened our minds and gave the people of Mars air. Had he been here today I may have understood your correction and avoided this whole mess.

But he wasn't. He was just a piece of Mars mutant trailer trash. Besides, he had to help feed Benny's five kids. Now the three boobed chick was hawt.

I had a ‘02 before I bought my ‘15. The best thing to do is to add a fuel pressure and exhaust temperature gauge to it along with a fuel pump upgrade (unless the pump has already been upgraded). Then add a simple TST programmer and J-hook to the waistgate and it will have the power of the 07 trucks. The TST programmer that I had was under the hood and had 3 positions that you set manually.

Thanks, I may be asking you some more questions!!!! I already found some advice on the www that you should watch the lift pump pressure to prevent failures on the injection pump

The ironic thing is, that way back in the 80's we used to sell EGT gauges to the local truckers at the store where I worked. This was before there existed any/ many/ the start of diesel light trucks. There were guys around here doing diesel swaps into mostly Ford heavy F250/ F350 pickups. There were several, a Detroit of some sort, a V6 Cummins, One buy put a turboed 4 banger Cat in one, some of them went nuts buying transmissions, gears, and rear axles.

Two of them got into trouble............They had slip tanks for the logging equipment fuel, and PLUMBED THE SLIP TANK right into the main pickup fuel system. The ol no tax pink dyed fuel.....................Somehow they got stopped by DOT or whoever...............
