AR-10

For the money they are really good. I shoot with both eyes open of course and the outer ring seems to disappear when focused on the dot. I would certainly buy another.

I’m in the market for a red dot and so far vortex is the front runner but Im considering primary arms now.

It's a KAK Industry Shockwave.
I always wanted to try one I just have thu buffer on my pistol. I wanted to get the brace but didn't want to pay extra for it lol.
I read that it's legal to shoulder the brace now.

I like vortex alot!! Theie scopes that is I dont have any experience with their reddots but I can't imagine then making anything less than superb.

My AR10 is there in the back, built it from an 80% lower, lilia 24" barrel, we call it the AT&T gun, reach out and touch someone. Love shooting it! Usually can get decent prices on .308 at my local walmart

Speaking of letting a good one get away. A guy has a Cooper Rifle in 300 Win Mag he took to Africa now wants to dump it and I know he has a weakness for pre 64 winchesters. Just so happens I have one in 30-06. He also has a Z5 scope on the Cooper. I will have to throw in some boot but I do love a Cooper Rifle!

I sold my long range gun to buy some engine parts. It was a savage 111 338 win mag I think I'm gonna miss that one. Lol but I'm gonna get way more use out of this car than I did that gun. I have tons of rifles to shoot. I only have one engine less dart lol.
I actually sold several guns to fund this project. I sold my 338 win mag, a savage Steven's 16 gauge, an extra 1911 I had, a Charles Daly (trash) 12 gauge shotgun like 3 muzzleloaders I'd saved from the pits if rust hell, and my Mathews bow. And It still not done lol. Not even close to done actually.

Man I love those 80 lowers. I have done 5 or 6 of them they are alot of fun and very affordable to build.

An extra 1911? WTF no such thing, hah! I come from a little itty bitty town in Ark called Berryville. When I was a young welder with good eyes I did a lot of welding for Bill Wilson when he was still not famous! I worked at an old shop long ago extinct! On a recent trip home to look for a place to retire in, the boys at Nighthawk Custom ( a bunch of X Wilson guys) also located in Berryville invited wife and I to a super cool back room tour. And I mean real tour, stopped and chatted with gunsmiths working on this or that. One of them was working on a 10mm he just threw the slide on and told me to check out the fit. He was very apologetic as he simply picked it up off the bench metal debris and all. Not saying I am the most savvy pistol guy on the planet but feeling the fit on the slide was way better than sex. It was like glass I don't have words for the level of craftsmanship. Nighthawk has one guy build the entire pistol start to finish. It is a thing of beauty. Hence my belief one can never have to many 1911s!

PSA has some really decent stuff for good prices. Just recently bought one of their gen 3 PSAK-47s. Also have an AR rifle and pistol kit through them.

I bought a PSA AR10 in 6.5
Was double feeding right out of the box. Every third round or so. Regardless of how I adjusted the gas block. They took it back, sent it to the main store to be worked on. Got it back. No charge, lifetime warranty. Will shoot it tomorrow. Great customer service.

You boys just keep me in mind when you want to sell one or two of these puppies (for cheap of course)

Wow that must have been a really cool experience. I do some amuature gunsmithing myself my first build was a 1911. Unfortunately my gunsmithing is like my car building I dont have alot of extra money so I have to sell something to buy something. I have kept every gun I have built tho. That mauser I posted above in post 22 was my 1st complete bolt action build it started as a blank receiver I have done 3 of them know I'm (was before the car started) on my 4th I will complete it when the car is finished.

For me the tour was a bucket list item. I too dabble at building some. My favorite to this day is a old colt trooper 357 I was competing with (think early 80s) I bought a Barrel blank and milled flat sides vent rib and did the threads etc. it was stretching my ability. Thing weighed a ton when finished. But I could get on target instantly for 2nd shot result of the barrel weight. The technology today makes those kind of solutions comical now. But back then it was innovative, but so were bell bottoms!

That is really cool. Do you still have that barrel?
Yea technology has changed the game that's for sure but there are still old school guys out there that remember stuff like that. I did most of my learning reading old books that talked about old ways of doing things. Then when I talk to newer gunsmiths they think I'm crazy because things are not done that way anymore. I read this old gunsmithing book and the author wrote about setting a rifle barrel face back...with a file!!! Holy cow that is just incredible to me. Now I would never try this but it blows my mind that they used to do it that way.

I picked up. Savage mod 111 at a yard sale for 75 bucks. Ugly as sin but it was a honking tack driver. Sub 1 all day with never a malfunction. Sadly my slab side pistol has long since been traded. I kept saying I was going to blue it but never did. I got to shooting it and just never got around to bluing it. Thing looked like a calico cat.
I had no luck trading my pre 64 today for the Cooper. Bummer I was lusting after the Cooper.

Why would anyone need a 308?

Are you shooting long distances or taking down hogs?

Owning a rifle like that is dumb and should be against the law.

:drama::elmer::bs_flag:

Oh wait... I enjoy shooting long distance and taking down my own bacon!

Aeroprecision 308 with 32 power scope. Stainless long barrel. Free floating hand guard. Adjustable cheek riser. Match trigger.

She just feels good and will ring the steel at 600 yards all day long.

My ladys 556.

Thousands and thousands of rounds through it and reliable as a honda.

My 1950s Lyman single stage press and case trimmer. I also have a 1950s lyman powder measure and all the dies to make anything from 38 to 30-06.

They just do their damnedest to make it a painful and expensive experience. So glad I left there.

I haven't bought a round of factory rifle ammo in nearly 30 years. I reload for 29 different calibers. Having said that, SGAmmo.com has some of the best prices I've seen on commercial ammo and some of the surplus they carry should run real well in an AR10.

308 is a very capable hunting or target round, don't let anyone BS you about that. Unfortunately it looks like it might be time to let a couple of my Palma and 1000yd competition guns go. Daddy want's a new R3 or Ritter small block to build. Priorities are changing.

Nice rigs! I may do a little scrounging out in the shop this weekend, who knows I might be able to rustle up a nice shooting 308 for a photo! My wife shoots and hunts with me as well. We went Elk hunting (tent) for our honeymoon. She goes nuts for Elk. She dropped her last one at 520 yards. I made 5 trips up the mountain wearing a pack board and rocking a caver light. She just simply cannot, and I mean never, shoot anything up on top. Pick the nastiest ravine and that is where she will drop her deer etc. By the third trip I had Elk slime all over me and smelled like a buffet table to every wolf or Griz for miles. I was so tired I was thinking to myself I come home from the desert alive and I am going to die on side of mountain with a Elk haunch strapped to my back. It was take three steps and rest kind of steep. I was so tired I was thinking if a wolf jumps on me I wouldn't fight back just put me out of my misery! She did however just buy me a nice little Colt for my birthday. Reckon I will keep her!
