Well, for $20 - I thought I'd give it a shot.....

Here is everything that was in the box...

Pros:
It's cheap....I mean, come on - $20 !
It actually works.....
No wifi connection is needed....works basically like a radio.

Cons:
No built-in battery...you'll need a power source or the lighter. I used a battery back-up I had for a phone.
Reaction time is SLOW. When I come to a stop it takes several seconds for it to display 0 mph - when accelerating, it lags behind my actual speed until it "catches up".
Took it a while to find it's signal - I thought it was broken - but it did connect.

So - cruising down the highway....it would work pretty well....good for verifying your speedometer too.

Verdict - I'm going to buy the correct speedometer gear for my car and stop all this nonsense!

Thanks for the review! I actually thought of getting one myself just for longer trips when I would be on the interstate alot (more cops) because I know mine probably isnt gonna be accurate anymore. Iv been doing some research and trying to find which tooth and color speedo gear i need and I'm lost! Lol

I have kept my eyes open and picked up several Garmin GPS off egag, C/L, and the local thrift stores. I have one I paid 5 bucks for and had to spent another buck on a cord, and another I spent 10, and one I bought for 15. Most expensive came off CL for I think 40 but it was like new These are all similar to the "Nuvi" series. Only disadvantage is they have to "warm up." LOL

There is a chart to find the right gear...I'll find it again and post it here.....

Yea I found the chart but it doesn't have my gear ratio nor my tires diameter. I was trying to make a guess in between the two but I gave up. Its gonna be a little while before I need it so I figured I'd worry about it later

Thanks that's alot better chart! What if I change tire size how much does that throw one off being just a couple teeth off?

get the right gear for your tire size they can be had for 20.00 bucks there easy to change it's that simple .

I see 2538928 is listed as white (post #6) and light blue (post #7).

Update: I found another internet source/seller "Brewer's" listing 27 tooth as white and 28 tooth as blue.

Anyone know about the index marks on the case and housing when changing pinions? What does the index do physically speaking? Can the pinion be inserted/indexed incorrectly? If so, what are the consequences? Thank you.

Depending on the number of teeth the size of the gear gets bigger/ smaller. If u index it wrong the speedo won’t worn or u may not get it in or if u do u will probably break the gear. Kim

Hey $20 if it works what the heck. If I'm on the highway I usually have my phone on Google Maps or I use Waze for police locations. Both have speed readouts.

I guess that really wouldn't matter unless you're at the drag strip but then you don't really care how fast you go???? It takes most people a few minutes to get from their house to the highway anyway.

clean the case - there are numbers that correspond with the number of teeth on the speedometer gear - They are in groups, easy peasy

^^The Chrysler system is much better that way than Ford/ GM. The reason for that is the size change of the gears. You can only change so much with a GM/ Ford or you have to tear down the trans and change the gear pressed onto the mainshaft.

Thanks for the review.

I actually just posted a "is anyone using this" thread on the B body side.

There are several different models from $20 up to about $50 currently on ebay.
Some have an OBD plug for gauge readings as well, and some have HUD capabilities.

I'll catalog this particular model as "laggy".

I've been using my phone as well, but it seems like it's a big drain on the battery, even if the lighter cord is plugged in. If the phone is at 80% when I start, it never charges past that and might even go down a percent or two.

Thanks again.
