They just do their damnedest to make it a painful and expensive experience. So glad I left there.
I haven't bought a round of factory rifle ammo in nearly 30 years. I reload for 29 different calibers. Having said that, SGAmmo.com has some of the best prices I've seen on commercial ammo and some of the surplus they carry should run real well in an AR10.
308 is a very capable hunting or target round, don't let anyone BS you about that. Unfortunately it looks like it might be time to let a couple of my Palma and 1000yd competition guns go. Daddy want's a new R3 or Ritter small block to build. Priorities are changing.
