Does your overflow have a vent? If not it would preasurize and could blow the overflow hose off. The only vent I'm familiar with is the one on the neck which the overflow hose connects with....
An overflow bottle needs to be open to the atmosphere. Tube on rad neck allows expanding rad fluid to go into overflow bottle. If overflow bottle does not have a vent it will presureize.
