Came AWFUL darn close to serious hurt today

I forget the old movie we saw other day but "Chester" was on it even before the Gunsmoke deal. We like to watch old movie's that were made before certain "stars" became stars!

I think every new generation should be able to live a day or a week or a month during the preceding generation's. I bet we all would appreciate our world a little better!?

I'm 70 and grew up here in the N end of Idaho. My Mom's folks were not rich. They had power, but no running water or bathroom until I was in Jr. High School. The events that led to that is one of my Gramps brothers died, and the remaining one sold the farm they had down in Oregon, moved up here to live with them, as he was in declining health. He had a fair amount of money, and they used some of that to drill a well, remodel the house, and add a bathroom.

They ALSO did not have a fridge until then........a real live icebox. Grampa used to keep a big tub and ice tongs in the trunk of the car to haul ice home.

The house I grew up in, about 2 miles "down the hill" had belonged to my Father's father. (That is the estate that just sold). When we moved in there, we had a wall hung "hand crank" phone with 20 some odd people on the party line. Our number was "19-F4" which meant that we were the 19th party on the line and our ring was "Fast 4" Even after getting a "modern" dial phone, we had a party line for years after. At some point after I joined the Navy in 68, the phone co (General Telephone) upgraded the lines and they were down to only 2 people per line

Even at the point Mom was moved out to a care place, you had to be "careful" not to run the well pump out of water
