Tire brands and warranties

I ALWAYS get Michelin.
They warranty for 10 years while everyone else is only 5 years.
They are always good to great.

I'm not a fan. Here's why. Michelin makes a great tire. Too good. The tread lasts too long. They usually separate and blow out before they wear out. I want a tire whose tread does not last that long. Michelins become unsafe after many years on the road. I am proof positive. My Ford truck had Michelin tires on it when I bought it. I knew they were old. They were checked on the sidewall. I should have replaced them when I bought it. I didn't. Mother's Day 2015 I had a severe blowout on the left front that dragged me across the oncoming lane all the way onto the opposite shoulder of the road. I was only going about 45. Had someone been coming the other way, it would have been bad.

As stupid as it sounds, I won't buy Michelin tires because the last too long. They actually outlast the longevity of the tire's construction. I've seen it a lot in the past being in the tire business before. If you run Michelin tires, keep a close watch on them.
