Bingo
Took the starter back off, removed the plate on the end of the solenoid section.
The wire to the small stud was broken off, and strangely enough it already had some solder on it. (thought is was a new starter when I bought it).
So first pic is the connection to the large stud (and what the other connection should look like).
Second pic is what I found when I got in there.
Third pic is fixed.
I was able to stick my soldering iron in there and add a little fresh solder to both ends, then I rotated the stud back to where it belongs and just soldered it back together.
Good news is, its back in the car and works fine ! And the new steering box is amazing. Went for a short ride, but I think with the new box and new pitman arm I need to adjust my toe-in again.
