To turn or not

I was told a long time ago, only build the short block unless you are installing the engine within the month. Otherwise, changes in temperature may allow condensation. Assuming this is an already ran motor, with used oil. I always squirt oil down the cylinders when it’s going to sit for the season. I NEVER use WD-40, while it may Displace Water, hence WD, it isn’t oil. Anything I touch, with human oil, that sits that may flash rust, I use Howe’s penetraing oil, assy lube, or SAE 30 mixed with a lil mineral spirits to thin it out in spray bottle. On my short blocks, covered in garbage bags, I oil each cyl and turn the motor. Weekly or Bi. All that **** burns out when you run it anyway. Better safe than sorry. Especially when our parts are 2/3 more money than comparable GM crap.
RRR, why wouldn’t you spin by hand with shafts off and plugs out?
