Trick Flow small block heads

Trick flow is calling me to get a set. I was number 2 on the list.
Due to some health issues my new motor build is currently on the back burner
If somebody wants to take my spot, PM me
well they couldn't get any closer to the end of March unless they called you on the weekend! LOL...

"Might have hip replacement coming, and it runs currently with old motor, so gonna see what happens
Dealing with the VA is no fun" B3422w5

Man I hate to hear that!
For me, I would do anything I could before doing that!
Just saying. My Mother-in*law did that. Nothing but trouble.
Infection ! Just a heads-up. Not trying to knock what you are doing. Just be careful. You've helped me a bunch and i appreciate it.

Thanks for the Heads-up on Trickflow! They were right on time, This Time. LOL

I talked with Mike at B3. I'm so glad YR put us on to him!
A very credible and experienced guy, who has the knowledge to get it right. Thanks Yellow Rose !
He's going to set up the rockers to work with this new head, to get the valve-train geometry correct. and have pkg. deals.
These heads work with LA and Magnum.
My Heads are coming next week.

I have a set shipping out to me Friday, will change the valve springs out with the ones on my eddy heads now. B3422w5 let me get his set as he is going in for hip surgery good guy alert there! Trick flow is now taking orders directly and shipping thru summit even though summits web site does not show that so order away gents. My 71 dart pictured runs a 430 inch 340 650 lift and a 850 quick fuel out of the box closed chamber eddyheads 1.6 Harland sharp rockers now best 1.30 60 foot 6.30 eighth 9.87. Motor tore down and gone thru with a 7.50 lift cam and a 9.50 quickfuel built for my combo and these heads that flow much better should be pushing g a lot more air thru it. Torque convertor gone thru also and new valve body with trans break for the first time. Ran those numbers foot breaking it and put a lot of Chevys on the trailer

Any good reason Trick Flow and even Brodix limit the intake port to 190cc? Sure seems like a guy could use a little more like the 210-220 Chevies...on a race engine that is.

TrickFlow has a target for the 80-85% that will buy this head. If they started out with a head aimed for die-hard racers they would lose money with low sales volume.

To put that another way as port volume goes up so does the need for a bigger valve to take advantage of more area. Some pistons wound need possibly some valve notch enlargement and mopar guys would be-itch that they weren't bolt on ready heads.

Exactly! Make money on the initial investment by selling many heads and maybe later, just maybe, they will introduce a more racier head. There has to be some good volume of purchasers before they could commit. There are not a whole lot of Mopar small block racers by compare.

Well guys, here's an b initial assessment of these heads.
First, to clarify, the heads only take LA syle shaft rockers. The useability on a Magnum block is made possible by using a rocker with internal oiling provisions to allow pushrod oiling. Considering Trick Flows reliance on Harland Sharp for rockers, they had to have a special rocker made with internal oiling.
Second, they do require special head bolts or studs, just like the big block heads do. I didn't find this out until after the heads were already ordered. No big deal, but when there is no mention of special hardware beforehand, the assumption is that they will use currently available stuff.
Third, the rocker stands have been relocated, similar to the way the big block heads were, only better. They still aren't as good as they could be, considering you would have to be running .750" lift with the Harland Sharp rockers to have proper geometry. When the solid roller spring only allows a max of .700" lift, it is going to take a different spring and retainer package to get there. Anyone running in the .500-.600"s lift ranges is going to need a little adjustment for it to be acceptable in my book.
Fourth, anyone looking to swap valves, ie for a boosted application, you may have trouble finding a valve in a suitable length, due to the uncommon length used in these heads. There is always the custom option.

Overall, they look very nice, and I'm looking forward to see how they work on a high compression 416 build we are doing at the moment. I'm hopeful they will release a competition port in the near future for the dedicated race engines. Still, they are nothing to sneeze at for an out of the box standard port head.

Whats the difference in fastener length? I'm assuming longer.
Whats the over all valve length?
I hope they make an offset intake rocker version in the 220 cc range.
The oiling on a Magnum block can be overcome with some creative plumbing. https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/1351725.html Not telling you anything that you don't already know, just putting it out there for those that don't.
