Any special tool or technique to un-crimp the metal that crimps the ferrules
on the shift and park cables as seen in this pic? I searched here but got tired of looking. THan s for looking.

Its a 64, but the way the ferrules (metal barrel like ends of cables) fit between the steel prongs in
photo is same for in dash push button control unit. I tried spreading type pliers, but are too thick to get between
those prongs, and I'm chewing up the prongs with screwdrivers.
Floorable Deplorable. Put that on your front plate before I steal it for mine!

64longroof, I would use two screwdriver opposite of one and another, wedge the opening if you don't have the space use a chisel and screwdriver together. Use caution on install, the tabs hate to be bent.

I ended up getting a straight screwdriver in behind the ferrule on the cable and pried out enough to open the "fingers" holding the cable. On the reverse, a pair of pliers bent those fingers back into place when I was done switching out the shift buttons.
