Y R , I used the same thermostat, in fact , much of my cooling system is like u described in old/past threads.
I have tried a "bunch " of diff. stuff and came back to mostly the original belt driven set up. I have the cooling problem whipped , but still have a tremendous amount of underhood heat to deal with. Altho I would be up to try a little smaller water pump pulley just for grins,
I`ve tried about everything else. Most of what I tried would work on a lesser h.p. engine tho-------
