Spring Fling Van Nuys, California Sat-Sun April 13,14,2019

Don’t forget the recovery tank. Tech is not real strict, but I remember needing to point out my hokey water bottle set up in the 69 before drag racing at lunch time. If your car dies on the track, don’t get out of the car. Rules will be reviewed.

Will be there on Saturday with my boys. Will be looking miscellaneous parts.

Firing up the 340 for the first time today. Didn’t quite gets finished enough to make it to the Fling this year. I still accomplished quite a bit with my crazy schedule. I’ll be cruising by late spring and early summer.

There's always Fall Fling! If you get it done by May 19th, bring it to Mopars in May in Riverside, CA.

Helmets at track may be borrowed. No rentals that I know of. Borrow from a motorcycle friend, but try it out first. Full face helmets take some getting used to.

Good to know!! Thanks!!

I don't think they allow passengers on the track, at lunch they allow cars on the track at 55 mph or less, passengers allowed and helmets not required.

Alan

Nice, so if I get to do that then it would still be worth the trip taking the Duster out there.

My son has been being a "Negative Nancy" saying "If we can't take it on the track, then what's the point of going? Why even bother taking the Duster?" I told him, it's for the experience and for the camaraderie of hanging out with other Mopar enthusiasts.

Thanks for the info!!

The weather is going to be fantastic.

70, 74 degrees Saturday and Sunday. Mostly clear skies with passing clouds.

And the park grass look terrific. Those winter rains did magic.

Just being an observer is worth the trip. $10 to get in the gate. Hear the wing car go by uncapped at WOT!

Good to know!! Thanks!!

I'll be coming down from the Bay Area with a lot of NOS and non-NOS parts. I'll be in town on Friday, swapping both Saturday and Sunday.

I scaled scott’s 67 Valiant and Joesedge’s 74 Duster at the track..

Scott, help me with your specs...

360, steel heads, 904?, 7 1/4 rear, manual steering, factory bench, fine lines disk conversion kit

Thanks for the weigh in Steve, Maybe I'll actually try the track next time.
That Dodge Daytona KICKED BUTT

The Daytona charger gets my vote for coolest car there.

Not sure if aluminum intake or not.

Wow! Your memory is pretty good! You got it all down! I do have an aluminum intake, I'm running an Edelbrock Air Gap. Yes, they are 11.75's up front. :)

Thanks for weighing it!! Now I know how much it is without guessing.

Power brakes? Headers?

Power brakes? Headers?

Factory Power Brakes, but the booster was deleted. Now it's running manual brakes with an aluminum master cylinder from Doctor Diff. Drum brakes in the rear (10 x 2 1/2 inch).

Doug's headers with 2 1/2 pipes into a custom X-Pipe built by Gene's Mufflers in Downey, CA into Dynomax UltraFlo mufflers going out the back with a pair of cheap (but still nice) chrome tips.

Rear end has a 742 with 3.23's in a '69 Coronet housing (un-cut). It's an open rear end (anyone have a spare Sure-Grip they want to get rid of?)

Wheels are 18" x 8.5" with 255 Cooper tires in the front and 18" x 9.5" with 275 Cooper tires in the back. The brand of wheel is Vision.

Hellwig 1 1/8" front sway bar, with a reinforced factory K-Member (you already saw my skid plate), PST 1.03" torsion bars, reinforced lower control arms with poly pivot pin bushings, stock upper control arms with offset bushings. Rear springs are from ESPO with squeaky poly bushings.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Umm...EQ Heads by IMM Engines in Indio, CA, Edelbrock 650 AVS carb. Originally a 3 speed on the floor, but upgraded it to a 4 speed with a Pistol Grip (anone have an A-Body bolt on shift handle they want to get rid of?).

I got about 14 MPG going from Downey, CA to Willow Springs doing from 2500 to 2700 RPM's on the Freeway witha bout 26" tall tires. Probably about 80% of the time doing 2700 RPM. Took Angeles Crest Forest going home and did better. Probably because it was downhill and wasn't on the gas all the time.

I think that covers it, but I may think of something else. LOL
