Part of the reason I wanted a quad cab was for hauling tools and other things without heaping them in the passenger seat. I never intend to carry passengers in the worthless Fiat's-idea-of-a-back-seat, so last night I just removed it. I already had been thinking of getting/ buying/ building a storage tray/ box of some sort and then it hit me............

I had bought a small truck aluminum cross bed box, what, Ranger? Don't know. I had built "extension" brackets and had it on the old Whale I, 1/2T. Turns out it will be PERFECT. Fits between the rear doors with maybe 2-3" clearance per side, I'm gonna mount it about 5" ahead of the cab wall to allow handyman/ shovel/ axe storage, and there's still "a little bit" of room ahead of and under the front of the box to put small groceries, / other

...........And.......I got the front mount hitch mounted. 50 bucks plus 8 bucks in hardware

Don't have the box mounted yet, the bricks are to "jiggin up"

Del, you would cease to exist without something to do! That's actually a pretty good idea. Those seats were tiny and worthless anyway.

I do hope you bolt that down very good. Hate to have that come over seat during accident.

LOL IN FACT this evening "while raining" I was digging around for "stuff" and remembered ALL THE BODY MOUNT TO FRAME hardware off the "several" Dakaotas/ Durango's I junked. These are beefy huge washers/ rubber absorbers, with HUGE center bolts. If they won't hold it, I don't know what. And yeh.....part of the reason for the box is to hold junk in LOL

I have "a bunch" of keyed alike locks, and will likely add some big hasps to lock the thing shut

LOL if the manufacturers would build what "we want" I wouldn't have to. I was out 10:30 last night looking it over. Rain finally stopped. The Dakota body mounts won't work. I have some square tube that will. Have to fab some spacers/ brackets. This thing is gonna work great. Lots of storage plus if I go somewhere "with clothes" I can strap them on top of the box

Well I be tard. JUST got in about 7:30. Got the new toolbox mounted, and the pass seat/ center console removed, AND got the "heater treater" kit installed. I am beat, and ran it just long enough to "think" that it works. A more in-depth test is in order. What's left inside the cab is to.........

1...wire up the backup camera system
2...Remount the trailer control into the ashtray so I can reach it
3...Got the heater fixed "I think"
4...Mount the gunsafe below the console in place of the useless cup holder for the rear seat LOL
5...Jack up the seats with spacers "about an inch"
