OK, I'm slowly making progress putting together a 1966 Barracuda that I bought in disassembled condition. There were a whole lot of '66 Barracuda parts that came with it & I was hoping I could figure out what went where. The car was originally factory air conditioned - the build sheet says so & it even has the AIRTEMP decal on the back window. There is no other sign of A/C parts anywhere....but there IS a complete heater box/assembly. My plan was to just go with the heater....at least for now. My problem is that it doesn't line up with anything on the firewall where it would attach. I stuck the two tubes through the firewall & figured SOMETHING would line up, but nothing does. Also the firewall hole is 6" in diameter & seems WAY too big for the heater. Does an A/C car have a bigger hole in the firewall than a non- A/C car?
Here's a couple of pictures. The heater I have has a '741' stamped in red. I've got a feeling I'll be needing another heater, but I thought I'd ask here first.

You might want to edit your post title by clicking on thread tools and adding specific info. I just read this post out of curiosity not knowing. There are many members that can help you!

There are others with much more experience than I but Yes the hole for the fan is larger for AC cars than non-AC cars and yes nothing much will line up if you have a non-AC heater box.
Do a search and there is some good info but most is converting to AC.

Here's a picture of my 66 with factory air, although the components are long gone.

On the far left is the heater control valve. As far as I know non a/c cars do not have this valve.

Moving right you see the blower motor, then the heater core lines, and all the way on the far right with caps on them are the original A/C lines through the firewall.

Hope this helps.

If you use the non air box you will have to weld in a section of firewall from a non air car. I've been looking at doing this myself, there may be a better solution, hope someone else may know.

As a person who put Vintage air in my non AC 66 barracuda- either you need a ac box to match your fire wall or you need to wells up all the hole and start over for a non ac box. Honestly if you have the time.... go for the ac system as converting sometimes takes more time and energy than doing what the factory spent a lot of money creating.

Here are some more photos after the fact.
I’ve got about $2000.00 into putting Vintage air into the car. It could be more- that was just the box and hoses and other parts bought individually

WOW! Thanks for the sudden responses & good suggestions. At least I'll quit wasting my time trying to figure out why what I have now doesn't fit - It never DID!!! Oh well.....
Neither my aging body/talent nor my budget are up to installing A/C, so I may go into 'heater delete' mode for the time being and direct energy on other stuff. There's always 'other stuff'. :)
