That is exactly what I was talking about. How does the mold work? It appears to be wood. So you took the cardboard template and used the dimensions to make the wood mold?
For this console, yes. You got it. It's more of a frame than a mold. Like the kiddos do to make speaker boxes for under seats and such.
For my bumper, I coated it in cooking oil then started laying on the matting and resin. Layers and layers...then sand and sand. The oe bumper popped out of the back.
For a "real" mold...you'd spray in a gel coat or releasant... then fiberglass INSIDE opposed to outside like I did, then pop it out.
