Anyone Near Murphy, NC?

Thanks for the info Mark. Sounds like you know Murphy well. Actually it isn't all that different from Hyde Park. We are just outside of the Catskill Mountains and we have quite a few pockets of mobile homes and DIY zoning. I don't mind isolation and being rural as long as there are necessities close by like doctors, hospitals and food. I actually prefer it and southern folks have always been very nice whenever I get down there. Living there may be another story but we have no attitudes. I also hunt and fish so it's got that covered as well.
That is some house!!! 4600 square feet. WOW. That would go for about $700k by me and taxes would be $12k per year. I have been checking homes on Zillow down there and they are turning over in weeks. Sometimes days. I'm going to put Murphy on the list of places to check out. Thanks again.
Hunting and fishing seems to be a great bond all over, wherever you go or are from. As long as you and the wife/family are OK with the distances, then it can be a nice type of area. Probably below average for wealth, but not impoverished. I have no idea on clinics/doctors, and I suspect the hospitals are the same distance away as major shopping. Cherokee NC might have something more in that line, and Waynesville might have more doctors.

Been there a few times: Raced in the area (rallies in the NF west of there), used to go there as part of my work from time to time, and hail from about 3 hours NE of there.

'DIY zoning'... I'll try to remember that term LOL
