Have finished rebuild of my matching numbers '68 cuda, BB car, with correct VIN number and codes stamped on tranny pad. Before painting, made note of three large yellow numbers painted near pad, seemingly-"113". Just learned that is supposed to be the last three digits of the part number for that application. I can't find a part number anywhere close to"113". This has to be the original tranny because of the VIN number, doesn't it? This car is late '68. As far as I can see- 1967 is #2892 042, 1968 is #2892 042, and 1969 is #3410 608. What am I doing wrong?

What are the bottom numbers on transmission, should be something like p8332892, the last 4 digits are the date it was built so 2892 would be June of 1969

Sorry, the numbers stamped on the pad, I wasn’t very clear about that. The top numbers on pad are the last 8 digits of the vin I believe

Here is a typical pad stamping PP8332356, the 2356 is the build date going by Chryslers 10,000 day calendar which come out to 2356 is Tuesday, January 9, 1968, like I said the 8 digits stamped up top are the last 8 didgits of the sequential VIN on the car it was put in

Numbers on the pad are not an issue- they are correct dates and VIN number. The issue is the three, 3 1/2", factory painted yellow numbers that appear on the case near the pad. Many have never seen these numbers as they are worn off. Am trying to understand what those three numbers should be and why they don't seem to match what was there. I kick myself for not taking a picture to show you. I am doing a resto, so others who have seen this hopefully can help.

The 113 paint stamp code is the application code for the ratio of trans to I'd it on assembly line, graveyard cars did a show on those numbers . Has to do with the options on car data tag for trans.
I always reproduce the original stamps on trans when rebuilding then

Thanks- so you're saying that the number will not match any part number? This is another 'code"? Your tranny looks good, maybe a '66 or '65? Have you ever seen these codes in a listing? Do you use a stencil?

# no matching 67 GTX , 440 4 sd , convertible car. Red, black int. , Black top.

Number should match trans code on factory build sheet for your car.
Reproduced with home cut stencils.
