Redfish: I don't see the point in changing the gaskets without installing the stainless trim. How does that look any better than the 67 gasket with no lock strip? The stainless looks nice and finished, like a contemporary Mustang or Camaro.
67 type gasket with no lock strip can and probably will leak. Later type gaskets will seal without anything more.
I did mention that it wont look great. Looks isn't everything to everyone. Maybe he's planning a blacked out version.
