I am removing my engine wire harness prepping for a front frame rail replacement. How do you separate the bulb socket from the blinker housing on the front valence. I seem to remember them being just pushed in but I don't want to force it. There is some rust in there. so maybe its just rusted together. Thanks in advance, Chris

You don't. The socket is integral to the housing. The parts are (front to back): Chrome bezel, lens, lens gasket, bulb, housing-socket-cable assembly.

Interchange (parts or whole assembly): '61-'62 Lancer, '63 Valiant, '63-'64 Dart.

It's pretty easy, just go carefully if it's rusty (spray some WD-40 or something first).
1. Remove the two screws holding the chrome bezel which retains the lens.
2. Remove the bezel, the lens will stick to the gasket, carefully prise this apart.
3. The bulb socket is attached to valance panel with 2 (or 3, I can't remember) self tapping screws, remove those.
4. The bulb socket should lift straight out, or prise carefully with screwdriver.

Thanks for your input guys, slant six Dan got me thinking. When I got home from work I followed the wire up into the harness and proof there is a connector . I'm still not sure how I missed it but thanks again,

Yes, it's not the first time I spoke/wrote my own gibberish. When you said it doesn't come apart it kind of got the wheels turning though. Are these available anywhere? Or is it my usual early a goose chase. I wouldn't mind replacing both blinker housings with all the rust in there

Yeah, that's it. Located in the engine bay just above those big rubber grommets on the front of the inner mudguard panel, next to the radiator support panel. Same deal for headlights, they just unplug...

I would not be surprised if they are used on something else. Perhaps not with that exact same lens and bezel, but the housing/socket part maybe...

My harness was replaced at some point and the person who did it had jacketing over it . That's why I didn't see the connector at first. As far as the parts they all work , the housing is a little rusty though

Optically the rust doesn't matter; there is no reflector bowl behind the bulb -- the optics are all in the lens. If the socket spring/contact plate are old and crusty, fix with parts described in this post.

Thanks , a super useful thread. As normal I am impressed. You truly are a mopar encyclopedia
