Just curious from a looks and depth of oil pan does everyone think is best on an a body.

I've got Moroso DS2 25x5-15 on 15x3.5 wheels on my bracket car, works great.

With the 25" tires, I've got a Milodon 8qt pan but just for safety I welded a small skid plate to the k member just in case.

I have the milodon 10 inch deep super stock pan.
I also currently have a moroso drag special 28x7.10 on a 15x3 1/2 weld wheel. I always thought the car looked over tired in the front and would like to switch to a 26 for looks, but I would be giving up an inch of pan clearance. That is my concern with this pan.

How hard does your car leave? Hang the front tires, how long and how high? I have run anywhere from a 24-26 inch tire. Shorter tire less roll out, taller, more roll out. So it will all depend on what your car wants.

Roy - whats the biggest front tires my
66 Dart can accept?
Ten 4
I bought these last month but they a little tall for my 66 Dart they are new steel skinnys from Cooker
I will put um on my utility trailer its fixining

Haven't driven it with the new motor. This summer I hope.
410 stroker w2 motor12.7 compression low gear 904.
14x32 slick with brake. I expect it will launch pretty good if it sticks.

I do not drive my car on the street. Those good years weight 10 pounds each. I can lift my weld wheel moroso combo with ease.
Real drag front tires are very lightweight. Those 50$ street tires are gonna be real heavy. Plus you gotta think about safety. I do not think a 50$ tire is safe at 130 mph.
I do drive mine on the street, and I have drag radials on the rear (so I need radials up front). The Goodyears shown are are for use with bias play rear tires. I don't like to mix bias ply and radials...did that once, none for me thanks....that gets squirrelly and any speed.

Weight, I think they are about 15lbs (really not that heavy). Safety.....well, the Volkwagon tires (165/80 r15's) I took off the car have been on there since 2002. I race ~3 weakends a month, + street driving...they were rated for 98mph, lol. I believe my new ones are rated for ~120mph -ish. My car trap's close to 130mph, but my friends car (which has the same VW tire) ran 150mph through the lights...no issues.

To be clear, I'm not advocating throwing caution to the wind, I'm just stating what has worked for me. Also, the past 10 ish years our Pro class switched to 1/8 mile, so I'm only going a little over 100mph. I still run 1/4 some, just not as much.

15lbs is 5 pounds heavier each wheel.
I guess weight is a relative thing. I have spent significant money to try to remove weight from my car, so 10 pounds lighter is significant, but I get what your are saying.

I just switched to the "VW" fronts. I was using the Hoosier drag fronts and they would last about a month and a half on the street. At 160 each plus shipping it was adding up real quick!

The new VW tires at 53 bucks each, while not looking as cool as the big white letter Hoosiers seem good. Yes there a little heavier but they are also legal on the street where as the Hoosiers are not.

That is actually not a very wide tire. What's the reason you guys are using the vw tire. I am missing something here.

There CHEEP, and skinny with a decent speed rating.

Free shipping with Amazon prime. Two tires, delivered and mounted for less than one Hoosier.

That's why I'm using them.

I still drive on the street a lot so I also had concerns about the non dot fronts and Johnny law. Not to mention how fast they wear out. (The wear, was my main concern. I just can no longer afford to change out fronts every 45 days.)

We both drive our cars on the street. Something like the Goodyear tire mentioned above is great for the track (on a track only car) where it is nice and clean, but is dangerous on street where you may run over random rocks, hunks of plastic, etc. The "VW" tires, being a street tire, are steel belted, inexpensive, and will take a lot more abuse without instantly going flat.

If I had a race only car that was faster than my current ride I would probably do something different....like the MT or Hoosier fronts (~150$ per tire).

Also to note about the speed ratings, those are for sustained speeds of ***. If you are curious, look up how the tests are done. Short version is, they essentially put the tire against a wheel to load it and spin it for 10 minutes at *** speed....I don't drive at 120+ for ten minutes straight, so....yeah.
