If I wanted to eliminate the chrome lock strip on the front and rear windshields, could I just use 68-69 windshield seals?

Yes, that is what I did, you will need to install clips for the moulding before installing the windows.

You can install the glass with later model gaskets without installing the stainless reveal moldings. It wont look great. The later gaskets don't fill out to the body like the 67 gaskets do. Reveal moldings fill and/or hide voids.

Has the installation of 68-69 chrome trim on a 67 been documented in a thread? Mostly how and where to install the clips.

No idea, 3-4" from the corners/ends and 6-9" apart, the exactness isn't important, just don't put one top center on the windshield (joint/ends).

I have seen this mentioned on the board many many times, so I would try searching for it. It is a common procedure. People have also posted the patterns for where to drill the holes for the clips.

Redfish: I don't see the point in changing the gaskets without installing the stainless trim. How does that look any better than the 67 gasket with no lock strip? The stainless looks nice and finished, like a contemporary Mustang or Camaro.

67 type gasket with no lock strip can and probably will leak. Later type gaskets will seal without anything more.
I did mention that it wont look great. Looks isn't everything to everyone. Maybe he's planning a blacked out version.

My 67 had the 68 window trim when I bought it.
Based on what I know about the car, must have been done long ago.
Not sure where the clips are or if possible to locate with trim on.

I was kinda throwing ideas around for a blacked out look for the windshield. That was why I wanted to use 68-69 gaskets with no molding.
I gather now the 67 gaskets fill the window channel better? Maybe I can use a different lock strip. Are the 67 specific gaskets available?
Thank you guys for the input

The 67 specific gaskets are available, but due to the limited production on those gaskets and that they are considerably different than the 68 and up style, you will be looking at approximately twice the price per gasket over the 68 and up style.

If I were going to use 68-69 gaskets and buy new trim I might end up at the same price?

Exactly. The reason that so many cars were converted is that until maybe six or so years ago, the correct gasket and mylar insert was not available. You were stuck with using a gasket that used the mylar insert as used on the GM and Dodge trucks. If you did not have the corner pieces for the mylar trim, then that was an issue as well.

Precision Gaskets have done both the gaskets and mylar inserts with the corners. Some people prefer the look of the stainless trim where others are looking to maintain the originality of the car. But factor in the cost of locating good trim, buffing and restoring the trim and buying the clips, the cost difference is considerably less than most take into consideration.

Price of removing both ws can be costly too. New 67 style gaskets mfg by Precision are available

I’ve got my car back from being painted and I’m ready to order some windshield gaskets. I found the front one made by precision, they do not make a rear for a 67 fastback. Any recommendations for the rear?
