I went to spray my door jams today and the gun was acting odd.

When the trigger was pulled back half way, it sounded like it was leaking air near the needle. Also, when I pulled the trigger all the way back the paint just leaked out. When I was able to get some spray, it just spit. I called Devilbiss and she said it sounded like the needle pack. So I ordered one. Anyone else have experience with this?

I have only used this gun three times, prior and it worked flawless. I have an 80 gal compressor with 15.1 cfm @90. The compressor is regulated at the wall to 120 and the gun is regulated from there.

Good thing I only mixed a little. At the price of paint, I can't afford to be testing, so I'm gonna try thinner, once I get it back together. should be Monday.

At least got the Doors and Jams epoxied (different gun)

I had the same gun, it would not even spray thinner when new.
It went right back, still use my old 25 year old Stewart-Warner, can’t get parts for it anymore, but it keeps on going.

That's odd. Gun has worked flawless for me even though I've only used it a few times.

Clean the crap out of it, it may be too late, you have to do that every time.

Huh. I read nothing but good reviews about this gun. I've had really good luck with it. I'm actually wondering if the packer got mangled while cleaning.

I've shot sealer, base and clear through it.

It's clean, trust me. I clean it each time. I do believe it is the needle packer. Just wondering, if anyone else has any experience.

is there a packing nut which controls the "squish" of the packing? If so, did you try tightening the packing nut a little?

Yea there is. It was tight, I didn't try tightening it any more.

I took it apart and the packing is a little distorted, not sure how that happened.
