Our shop guy lives on a tight budget. He cant afford to take care of his car. Let me tell you it's a **** box. The car is nice but his engine is garbage.

About a week ago he stripped out the threads on his starter (block side) and that pos wont even spin his pie crust cheeters.

So his car has been sitting in the shop while his lady drives him to work and its causing a big load on his family life.

Tomorrow morning I'm gonna go in early, pull his motor, throw that pile in the dumpster and drop in a spare we have sitting around.

Granted it not a record braking engine but it's not a total POS. it's got a full MSD set up. Zoomies, twin carbs and ran like a bat out of hell when I pulled it out.

I cant wait to see his face when he gets to drive his car with a motor that is strong, wont diese and can turn his little slicks into white smoke at will!

I'll post a pic of his face. It should be dam near torn in half with a smile.

Hes been a big help and even with his issues is a great person and deserves an engine that runs.

I'll post some pics.

I cant wait to surprise him, its gonna be good!

That's awesome! Will he be able to drive to work with Zumiez?...

Yeah? I gues? His daily is a Ford model A.
That has some **** mufflers welded to the pipe. Sometimes they fall off cuz his welding ain't great....

It's an open wheel car, how legal is it?

I spearheaded something like that for our parts guy. He provided the parts. I rebuilt the front end other guys did the body work and paint and the boss bought the materials. Made him a sweet little 4x4 s-10, He blinged it all out. Big smile is right.

First off!! You are one of the most generous kind heart genuine people I have ever met (although we have not met haha) you're just an awesome person!! I wish this world had about 300 million like you.
2nd of all your friend sounds like a badass a model a for an everyday driver!!

Nope, it's a 305. But it's a runner.

And trust me its WAY BETTER than what he has.

Thanks guys. I'm just glad to be able to help out.

My life has gone through some twists and turns. I've done my fare share of damage in this world and I learned that I enjoy making things better more than I enjoy making things worse.

So, ur telling us u don`t pay him enough---------??

You will be blessed by the MoPar gods for you help you are giving, love seeing this on this day

That's great, I find that giving can be better than receiving as I get older. You're helping him out, that's a good thing. 65'

God bless you brother, for helping this man. It is truly a great feeling to be able to help someone who works hard and needs a break, and a reward for all of his hard work.

He gets payed plenty. I'm not in charge of his finances.

I am in charge of that engine sitting in the corner tho!

Just curious, your shop guy, What’s his role?
Regardless of what he does, its great that you can pull something like that off, give something of little value, and make his day, month and year.
Goodonya!!

He does what ever I tell him to do.

Welding, fab, sweep up, it's just me and him so he does a lot.

Well today didn't go as planned. Got all the way to the end and the flex plate dont line up to his torque converter.....

Now I remember why I quit doing mechanic jobs.. gotta pull it all back apart and start over in the morning... dammit...
Good news is pops reminded me I got a new 2,800 stall converter on the shelf so I'm gonna check if that one lines up.
I also got a new in box digital 6AL I'm gonna toss in.

I can't believe I forgot to check when I had the engine and trans out...

I just figured small block chevy to small block chevy, it should fit..... NOPE!!

all day he kept saying, "this is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me, I can't believe it...."

When he showed up his car was up on stands and he thought I was just gonna fix his starter.....

My buddy who owns Gromm racing came over and saw and said he will machine his old block for free and then he can have a back up engine. So that's cool!

The old engine.

This is what waisting 11 hours looks like...
Good thing I made the mistake cuz if he waisted an entire day I'd be pissed..

:)

Looks like I forgot to take a pic with it all back in but I'll get another shot tomorrow.

No smiling pic, that will come when he heres ot fire off.

I'm sure he gets lots of thumbs ups.i convinced him to enter it in a show earlier this year and he won best of show. He almost cried.

He has had a very hard life.

It's not my place to tell his story but he was born a drug addict and his life went down hill from there. My dad has 30 years in AA and sponsors a lot of folks. They connected over his car and pops found out he needed a job so I took a chance on him and he has realy shined as a fabricator.

He realy seems to be a natural at it. Sometimes I think hes better than me. He realy took to the English wheel. Its un canny how good he is at shaping steel.

He's been working for me for well over a year and sober as a nun the entire time.

Folks like him just dont seem to make it most times but he has done amazing.
If anyone deserves a break in this world, its him.

That’s awesome. Give a man a new lease on life, and in turn you get a good set of hands. This should keep him motivated. The few i have tried to help burned me. Im hoping one day i will make a positive impact like you have done. You are an inspiration.

You got to take care of your help.
Believe me replacement are few...
You are a great guy and deserve a great employee.
My hat is off to ya !!!
