5.9 Magnum engine timing cover swap

you can shorten bolts
hard washers are good
you do not need 3/4 into cast iron but does not hurt there are formulas for this
chase your threads and bottom tap the blind holes otherwise a too long bolt can split the casting
X2 on the grade 5 torqued to factory specs
grade 8 torqued to factory specs are not stretched so do not hold and if torqued to grade 8 they can distort aluminum

Ok. So I will mock it up, use a piece of wire to measure length/depth making sure not to bottom out and get some quality grade 5 hardware. The kits I see are like $60 so this route will save me some greenbacks too. Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!

Just use your LA bolts, be very careful about the bolt length, there is a threaded hole in the front timing cover, if you put too long a bolt in it, it will crack a cylinder wall.
Every situation is a little bit different ( bracket mounting for Alt.,P/S, A/C, etc. ). A good rule of thumb that I always use is the 3/4" thread engagement rule. Measuring thread / blind hole depth is always a good idea also.
