Duster to Demon

-
It can be done. I am changing my 75 Duster over to a 72 Demon.

You are the one that I saw doing this. Was it just bolt on? What about the bumper brackets?

I am still waiting to hear back from the guy with the demon for a price for everything. C_Stipes says he will sell the car for cheap.

Look, I think that might be a cricket???

All but the bumper mounts will bolt right on up on the front end. My car had the 5 mph shock type bumper mounts on it. they bolt up differently on the front of the frame than the Demon monts that bolt on to the side of the frame. What I did was I bolted the bumper mounts to the bumper then held it all in place where it goes with some crats and some wood. then marked where the bolt holes go using the monting holes on the monts. then I drilled them out with a hole saw typ drill bit. Then I used some bolts with washers and the nut I snaked up through two holes that were in the frame.

I have not done the rear yet but you will need to weld in the Demon panel and it should have brackets on it for the tail lights. I don't know if the rear bumper will bolt up but I don't see why it could not be put on just like I did the front bumper.

Side marker lights for a 71 Demon were flush monted and 72's are the stick out kind.

Other than that your Duster doors will work as they are the same as the 71-72 Demon doors. The only difference is one the inside of the door. Later Dusters had full langth plastick door panels and the door handle is in a diferent spot. But Other than that they are the same and will interchange with each other.

Good luck

Thanks Ray426. Looks pretty cool to me. "Look at that Demon, no it's a Duster. What the heck is it"?

How did you get the front bumper brackets to fit? My 75 had the shock absorbing brackets with a one bolt mount. How do you get the older brackets to fit?

I initially welded them on. Eventually I drilled out the bolt hole locations in the frame rails and used those slip on clips that have the female threads and bolted them on.

Did you take any pictures of the process? Or any other pictures of your car? I am at the very beginning of the conversion and I need a lot of advice.

No sorry. I sold it about eight months ago. I deleted the build thread I had on here and did not think to save the photos Before doing it.
