Hi everybody:

This is suppose to be a 3/8s bolt that holds the snubber on I'm told...but on this one it's not. The bolt starts but then stops after one 360' turn... it's too tight and the threads aren't damaged in the case. Did I get a hold of a weird one? Does anyone have any clue what size this may be?

Typically they are filled with dirt even had one a mud dauber filled in. Couldn’t figure out why the bolt would not screw in then I pulled the bolt out and saw what was left of the wasp. Chances are something is i there .
Possibly a broken bolt too!?’

This one is all rebuild and off the car lying on the garage floor. That's why I'm dumbfounded...No obstructions either. Maybe re thread it??

Just to cover all the possibilities, make sure that the bolts aren't metric or damaged!

I try to use the longest bolts that will fit for max thread support.

They're bran new and I tried other 3/8s bolts that were around here also.

Like Roy said run a 3/8-16 bottoming tap in the threads and it'll be fine. I've seen many that were filled with crud or buggered up from someone trying to force in a metric bolt or a bolt with damaged threads. That's a part of every rebuild I do

Problem solved. I guess it was never used, never had snubber bolted on it before. Just re tapped it 3/8. The threads were quite rusty so that was probably the main problem

I'm snubbed..It was so densely packed full of dirt 3/4 full that I thought they never tapped it all the way at the factory. It felt like metal. Even when I hammered a small nail into it that didn't work. I had to soak it in oil for days then finally it gave way. Just dirt and the threads just needed to be re tapped. It took long enough though but I'm no expert.

Just remember how old it is and the dirt that accumulated probably isn't much younger!
