Got a phone call from 1-888-480-7784 stating it was from Microsoft Refund Dept. It is a scam, but it is a valid number. I have been calling it and bugging them. How about everyone who reads this post, call that number. and bother them.

Just got one saying my account was compromised. Funny the only number they had was a cell and it is long gone.

Check out this guys YouTube page. He calls the scammer and while they're trying to scam him, he's deleting their files, sometimes putting s virus on their computer and changing their password do they're locked out. Wow do they get pissed. ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS.

I get at least one call a week from Microsoft scammers, I tell to pound sand, hang up & block the numbers.

Wife got one the other day saying her social security number would be "blocked" if she didn't pay some made up fine.

She asked them how they were going to do that, laughed and hung up.

On a somewhat related note...

I was helping gut a bank today before the building gets demolished (more on that later)...

There's an ATM and part of a room sized safe sitting in the parking lot, a gaping hole at the front door where the ATM used to be, parking lot full of construction vehicles, people wearing hard hats, carrying jackhammers, etc, no one, repeat no one in the building wearing a skirt or a tie, most of the furniture missing.....

...and about 3 dozen people came in and asked the first person they saw to either cash a check or take a deposit.

These are the people who get taken by these phone scams!

I'm wearing shorts and a T shirt, carrying a battery drill, and part of disassembled a desk, and seriously, people are waving their checks at me and asking me if I can cash them.

Did they, IDK, notice something was maybe.....not quite normal?

If I don't recognize a number, I don't even answer it. If it is important, or if it is some long lost friend, they will leave a voice mail. Simple as that.

I use to not answer. Now I sometimes do, and ask if they realize this number is on the "no call list". Sometimes I will tell them, Sheriffs Dept. Fraud Division.

Phone number spoofing is easy so if you call a scammers number back you might be bothering an innocent person. Just hang up and move on.

Actually I think Microshaft IS a scam, but that's just me. I haven't fired up Whinehozed sleven for about 4 months now, and that was only to see if the thing still boots.........dual boot......Linux Mint.......Mate desktop.....It's FREE

Not a phone scam, but my email system does a good job of putting suspicious emails in a junk mail folder. For months I have been getting a couple of e mails a day from USPS or UPS telling me of an undeliverable letter or package and asking me to click a link for more details or to ‘unsubscribe’. I simply delet them.
In the last week those e mails have been replaced, the new scam e mails are telling me that my upcoming flight on Quatar Airlines has been re scheduled and I need to click a link for more info, or to unsubscribe,,,
Morons, plain and simple.

I enjoy talking with scammers. "Sure you can lower the interest rate on my Mustard Charge card." They say "Master Card?" I say "No Mustard Card. Current balance is 2.72."
If its my computer, I might tell them its not on, I'll need to boot it up. Then "Sorry this is taking so long. Windows 95 is slow." Just whatever I can come up with. One guy asked me what was on my screen, I said "Andy Griffin Show." When he said close that, "Not until it ends. I haven't seen this one before." Another was telling me what buttons to press, CTRL or something,,, "I can't find that on my remote. Then "Oh I'm sorry. I thought we were talking about TV. I don't have a computer."

Back in the telemarketers days:

"bla bla bla"

ME "Oh just a minute my wife was just talking about this the other day, she is busy right now can you hang on a minute?"

"Sure, bla bla bla"

..........Stretch that out, 2, 3, 4 minutes.........

ME "Sorry she'll be here in a second, can you hang on?"

"Sure......bla bla bla"

Stretch that out......another 3, 4 minutes?

ME: "Still with us, I'm sorry?"

"............yeh, I'm still here.........bla bla bla"

ME: "Sorry I don't know what I was thinking. I don't have a wife I've never been married" ...........hang up phone
