Evening all,
I was looking at parts the other day and came across a few LD340 intakes for sale for $799 and they claim it was because of the Chrysler part number... if that's the case I'll post mine for sale as it has the Chy# as well (attached photos). Anyways, curious more than anything on why sellers are asking so much. They are a great intake but wow....

Anybody who wants in the neighborhood of 300 on up is stupid crazy, Chrysler part number or not. It's a good intake, but if you're gonna spend that kinda money on an intake get an Airgap. No way in heck would I ever pay 800 for one. That's just somebody trying to bend people over. Happens around here all the time

Last year 2018, a racer got the LD340 with the PN on it approved for NHRA stocker racing....so the price kind of took off....a friend of mine who races a stocker,,,,paid pretty good money for one...and I found one on line for him at a steal...anyway...some racers were paying 900 bucks for them...well....Nhra said for 2019 they are no longer legal....so maybe some people are trying to recoup their cost....or lost...LOL...

the one i got my friend did not have the pn on it....but it was send to somewhere in Wisconsin and they put the pn on it..

The intakes with the chrysler part number on them "were" legal for use in stock eliminator on certain years of 340's up until last year I believe. Since they never were used on any factory 340 the NHRA banned the use of them. It was because they were able to be used in stock eliminator that the value of the ones with chrysler number skyrocketed. Although still a good intake, they are really worth no more than any used rpm or air gap now that the NHRA wont allow them.

Good intake but not worth $800. Same as the LD4B's, sold a few for $300+ in nice shape and a couple for $100 in need of some repair.

I have 2, whoopie.
If someone offered me 700.00, I wouldn't take it. That's lame...however I wouldnt sell it either.

Great intake, like others that cost less...and are still being made.

Ha that all makes sense. I bought mine around 10 years ago for $175 I believe... wasnt sure if I missed anything.

Well if y'all want to over pay there's one on Ebay ready for ya (below).

That guy who is selling that for 800$ is a member on here. Tried buying something from me low and I told him I’d sell it for what he was asking for on eBay, needless to say he never bothered me again.

I think it was fishy68 that found one for my 69 360 Dart about 10-12 years ago. I think I paid $150.00 for it.

I recognize that pic from here somewhere.
Thanks Jake, I was wondering about that lol.

Yeah that's George. There's a member here whose been to his house. Said he's a super nice guy and threw in some extras. George does have some nice stuff, I gotta give him that. He has two LD340s. One for 799 and one for 899. Obviously, he's looking for that particular customer who wants something no matter the cost and has the money to pay. Caint fault him for that. I still say it's stupid crazy, but hay just do like me and don't buy it. lol

It’s worth as much as the next guy is willing to pay. IMO, this intake has always worked great but is now overshadowed by a much more superior design making this antique intake just a relic from the past that I myself would pass over. To me, it’s worth a max of $100 delivered to me. Chrysler part number or not.

I have had this intake before and it rocks. When modified as per the Chrysler MP speed secrets book, it’ll enable high rpm blasts and deliver really good power with a monster cam normally seen in use with a single plane intake.

But the RPM is better. If you intend to sell it, GLWS.

I got an LD340 a few years back by trading a 340 Torker for it. Picked up a nice LD4B last fall for around $50. Neither is for sale.

And if you wait long enough you will find that person who will pay the big price.

After reading this whole thread and realizing I’ve got 2 in use now. I love them both. Modified per MP bible. They are a super Intake and still make a lot of power.

We have a part of our culture as humans that is new to us relatively speaking. It’s called “Ebay” and “TV auctions.” It’s a place where one person with deep pockets sets the new price schedule for items we have a want, need or desire for. It has inflated the prices higher than inflation does. What was an Intake worth maybe $150 is now $800.00 because of an auction “asking price.” The “asking price,” does not mean that’s its real value. It just means it’s inflated value.

Sadly anything “muscle car” or in this case “NASCAR “ related means big bucks. But like Monopoly money, the price is not worth the paper it’s printed on. If that person can get that much for that LD340 then props to them. But the value is not any higher than the next person will pay. “There’s a sucker born every minute.”- P T Barnum.

I won one in a raffle a few years ago and gave it away to a member here. I should send him a PM and tell him he now owes me a 800.00

:)

True stuff right there.

The last one i bought I paid $1200 for, but it was attached to a .030 over 340.

I agree. It's similar to watching "Antiques Roadshow" on PBS. Everyone gets overly excited when the appraiser throws out some startling value at auction number for what they have. Problem is, you gotta find someone who will actually pay anything close to that! Figure on only getting half is more the reality.

It depend a on how badly someone wants it. There’s a LD4B for sale on here for over $300. It’s very rich but if somone wants one now, then they might pay that much. Makes the $142 I paid (incl shipping) a steal 3 years ago.
