This is my first 64 barracuda. I'm trying to determine the biggest tire I can fit under there in the original configuration?

I have 195/65 15s on the front of my '65. They look as tall as I would want to go. On the back, 225/60 15s should be easy. Another FABO member has 235/65 15s on the rear of his '66. He does have a slight rub.

Let me know if you would like a pic.

Good luck.

IF you are able to move the rear leaf in but stock wheel well you can run a 275 with the proper rim. My rims are 17x9 with offset +24mm works out to be 5.95 back space. The spring has to be moved over a full inch to make room for the tires.
I'm running 225's up front but I have converted to the large bolt pattern all round as well.

What are your plans for your 64 Barracuda? If you are converting to disc brakes or 4.5 bc? I would do the conversion first then choose your rims with the correct back space.

Good luck.

Keith,
that is what I will be doing ,just getting information now to make plans for later on.

I'm running 245/60/14 on a 7" rim with 4.5" backspace on the rear of my 66 Valiant. It's all the tire I can get in there without tubbing, rolling the fender lip, or moving the springs. I have about 1/4" to the spring, and about 3/8" to the fender. The fronts are 205/70/14 on a 5.5" rim with 3-5/8 backspace.

I was able to get 245/60/15 on a 7" rim with 4.5" backspace on the rear of one of my cars that left 3/8" to the springs and 3/8" to the fenderwell but when I tried those same wheels and tires on an another of my cars the tire rubbed the outer fenderwell. Both 64 Barracudas, both 7-1/4 axles, same ride height on both.
I have since put an 8-3/4 in the car that rubbed with the Dr. Diff spring relocation and have 245/60R15 on 8" rims with 0 offset.

I have 205/60R15 on the front of both cars but have the 73 up disk setups on them so they are a tiny bit wider than original.

235/60/15 on wheel vintique mopar looking rallyes, no mods, no rubs. 8-3/4 a body rear , factory axles, under a 65 Barracuda. It's tight, but not uncomfortable tight.
