Hi all,
finally got to replace stock fan with a clutch from MB 280SE...found and ordered the clutch but can't seem to locate the fan blade. Anyone know the part number?
Further, as the bolts have to be changed to shorter ones, what grade should be used? Might be a problem to find those in Spain though...
Thanks,
Tina

Maybe not. There were Darts assembled there in the 60-70’s. They were not a common sight as they were a luxury car for the wealthy. I have a friend in southern France with a Duster and a friend in Switzerland and they don’t have a problem finding hardware - more expensive than metric if course. Both said there are stores that cater to stuff for American cars.

For those interested, OEM part# seems to be 1112050106. Not sure though is it for the fan/clutch assembly or fan only.

Allright, an update to this. I got the '77 Mercedes SE280 clutch fan assembly and it does not fit in my 1963 Dart. The clutch is touching the radiator when on the water pump hub. I believe the radiator is original (at least looks like it), I know the engine is.
Just a reminder, measure before you buy...

I did this mod, but I had to use a Volvo fan clutch 1965 and drilled holes to make a Custom blade. I ended up taking it off, big waste of time.

You may be able to loosen the motor mounts and slide the engine back a small amount.

There’s not enough room for a fan clutch with a /6 in an A body. Use an electric fan.

yup you can i did it. in an early abody, you have to move the radiator core foreward an inch use a 1967 volovo fan clutch from oriellys, use 1967 volvo fan but drill a new bolt pattern

here you go

Honestly though, to what end? A couple of MPG at the very most? This is something I would spend the energy on doing something else.

So, how much room is there between the pump shaft and the radiator in those cars ??

In my '63 Dart about 2 3/8 inch. Precisely the fan clutch height. Got the stock fan back and try to forget the whole thing, moving the radiator forward just sounds like too much of a hassle.
