99% of the inhabitants drive here 1 to 1 1/2 hours to work there every day!! We are 1 hour from the North edge of Houston. I bet Calif. in LA and other like areas , this is nothing!!!!
Ya . Its from this side of the mountains I won't buy anything from the West side even if its been garagedIf it's been local to Yakima then it could have little rust. If it came from the coast then it might have problems. My 76' F-150 Body came from Wapato, was a school distinct truck and was very rust free.
Before I retired , I drove 6 mi round trip to work spoild .... Ya. . I live in a rural area I get pissed if I get stuck behind a tracker . I hate Seattle99% of the inhabitants drive here 1 to 1 1/2 hours to work there every day!! We are 1 hour from the North edge of Houston. I bet Calif. in LA and other like areas , this is nothing!!!!
It doesn’t matter how many times I go on these trips to pick up cars, one thing I always try to be is honest. If the car is not as described, I tell them why my counter offer is what it is. If it is as described or better, I have no problem paying their asking price.
I bought a 73 Dart Sport roller that was advertised for $1100. It had a bucket seat console interior, disc brakes, dual sport mirrors, and 8 1/4” rear with a 3:55 SG, rallye wheels.....and a sunroof from an Airstream camper. I handed him the $1100 no questions asked. That was when he told me he was so disgusted that people were lowballing him and trying to beat him down on the price because of the sunroof, and that I was the first person to not mention a thing and just hand him the money. He then proceeded to throw in all kinds of other parts that he didn’t want, E body bucket seat tracks, another console, a couple extra sets of rims and tires, and a bunch of smalls. All because I was honest and didn’t try to beat him out of it.
He's definitely not over selling pictures will tell . I will know more when as I dig into itBefore I retired , I drove 6 mi round trip to work spoild .... Ya. . I live in a rural area I get pissed if I get stuck behind a tracker . I hate Seattle

Some of you guys are missing the point. Miles aren't the issue I'll drive where I need to pay what I need to or not. I just needed a kick in the right direction , especially after just finishing the Dart. Thank you for the input . More then likely there is a road trip ahead.100 miles is nothing. Get in the car (bring cash) and go see it in person. If it’s good buy the thing and make him throw everything in for the $1000.
I can’t believe 100 miles would bother anyone. What’s that a 2 hour drive? That’s nothing.
Hell I’ve driven 4 hours one way to buy $125 bicycle.

I have an LKQ pick-a-part email system that informs me when a certain car comes in to a local yard (93 SC400) so I can hit it early. Im always looking for guage needles as the LED's always burn out in them. Got the Email Thursday afternoon, was there by Friday 3PM. Thing was boned out to the firewall when I got there. And the needles were gone...Procrastination breeds disappointment. Jump on that if your looking for a Duster. Id take it sans motor personally unless it had headers and an AL intake/4bbl already installed.I agree with others. .. countless hours walking junkyards, ( AKA- automotive recycling facilities), etc etc.... all to come home empty handed. I say go for it. ...
I just looked over CL from 8-10 states just to see whats what today. I never seen so much over priced junk. As usual.
Here is the thing. My opinion. Project cars are worth more in sum of parts than what the project will sell for. That is not the point. How many years or month will it take a person to part out a car?
What does it cost in terms of parts and someone 's time to get it on the road or restored to what ever degree? If you sold it restored what will it actually bring in $$$???? Can you buy a restored car for less, and finance it? Can you afford to do so??? Do you want to build your car yourself????
Any project that will run ( and drive) will sell for ???? more than a non runner?
Any car that is decently solid is worth how many more $$ than a rust bucket?
Interior? what does it cost for seat covers, headliner, door panels, dh pad?? etc. does your car you are looking at have such?
When buying any old car, be honest with your self as to your skills, or tools, your place to work.
How to look? L sucks in general. I have seen many decent cars on FB Marketplace, but I weed out 98 % of them.
Sites like for say A Body cars, or what ever. HERE!! 99% honest people. Specific sires on FB , is a great place to network.
Enjoy the journey, the destination will come!!

Was going to pick it up this Saturday but Mother in law passed away so planning on Saturday next.View attachment 1715328690 View attachment 1715328691 View attachment 1715328692 View attachment 1715328693 View attachment 1715328694
Ya , saw that also.looks to be some Abody scoops in trunk bought many cars with some nice suprises in them yeah and I would buy
Don't think any problems on the floor pans. Cars don't rust through around here unless left in the weeds, we live in pretty dry country. The rust holes seem to be about fifty cent sizeBy the way, you can generally buy s sheet of 18 ga 4 x 8 sheet flat stock for $60. You can easily fab those patches with simple tools. Takes a little thinking and time but you will also have metal you can use to patch the floors with also.
I drove to ny to see and buy 2of my rides about 8hrs trailer and all One way100 miles is just a nice weekend drive to check out what could be a great deal. But as you know there's an equal chance that it won't be worth the trip. Ive towed my empty trailer 4.5 hours to turn around and haul it back home empty when I found the car to be misrepresented.
