Need to just change out the glass, looks fairly simple, is it, I'm pretty mechanically inclined however I know window glass can sometimes be a *****, dont want to bite off more than I can chew
I took my 74 Duster apart more than 15 years ago. I was able to put the door glass and all the mechanisms back together without a problem. If you are mechanically inclined as you said, you won’t have a problem just swapping out glass. My trim panels are still off and can possibly help with pictures if needed. Didn't you just come out of the hospital or something? Thanks for the votes of confidence

First i read of this, great idea!Any suggestions on replacing the track felts, I think I read somewhere that the fuzzy off of hook and loop tape works well in the channel??
As I recall I think you have to move or remove the regulator and also the bottom screw at the ends of the guide. You get the regulator rollers off the window track and also the bottom of the guides kind of spread out so you can get the window out. It should come out with the metal strip on the bottom of it, but you need to get the regulator out of it and that requires you I believed to unscrew the regulator from the inner door panal. When you changed out your glass did you have to remove the hardware from your window? I need to change the drivers side glass in my 74 duster. Bought a new amd glass and have no idea how to remove the existing hardware from the old window. Looks like a metal washer on each side with a plastic insert with a threaded stud. I see they sell new kits but they dont look the same.
I've actually got the window out. It's the studs that are through the window that are still attached when the window is removed. Mine has 5 of them.Yes one more thought about it here and unscrewing the regulator allows it to go far enough to roll off the track and then it will release the window.
Make sure this piece is out of the way before removing the glassYou have to roll the window when you pull it out towards the outside of the door quite a bit to clear the studs, make sure you remove the metal adjusting strip along the top of the door 1st I think there are five bolts dont know the name of it.
Do they unscrew from the stud?Yes, there are two round holes in the back of the studs, I used needle nose pliers to hold onto those
