Need to just change out the glass, looks fairly simple, is it, I'm pretty mechanically inclined however I know window glass can sometimes be a *****, dont want to bite off more than I can chew

I took my 74 Duster apart more than 15 years ago. I was able to put the door glass and all the mechanisms back together without a problem. If you are mechanically inclined as you said, you won’t have a problem just swapping out glass. My trim panels are still off and can possibly help with pictures if needed. Go for it!

My 73 Cuda was easy. Just watch the sharp edges when reaching in for the misc hardware in there. Take you time and take photos.

Yes I had a 7 level spine fusion on my neck, they fused C1 thru T2 multiple rods and screws yaddeeee yadddaaaa.
This was their 4th attempt to fix an ongoing issue that happened in the military.
Unfortunately there’s good and bad outcome, the good is I have a stable neck now however going to be in pain the rest of my life.
I’m truly blessed and glad to be here, shouldn’t be, however I’m very thankful I am.
The car helps with my PTSD it keeps me busy and stressed ....lol, I’m 100% service connected disabled, I worry a little bit about my physical ability to do even simple tasks these days however I get thru it and very thankful to be alive.

Stupid easy if you have the tool to take the glass itself off the mechanism.
(sometimes those are loose anyway)

1. Panel off
2. Window or mechanism down all the way.
3. Upper trim and lock knob off.
3. Remove attaching hardware at the bottom of the glass.
4. Slide old glass out the top, and reverse to put the new one in.
5 Reassemble the stuff you took off the door.

Hints:
The tool is a big help.
Inner tube rubber makes great glass to metal insulators.
Vacuum tubing or nylon reinforced fuel line works good for insulating around the bolts that go through the glass.
(You don't want metal directly contacting glass ANYWHERE.)

Any suggestions on replacing the track felts, I think I read somewhere that the fuzzy off of hook and loop tape works well in the channel??

When you changed out your glass did you have to remove the hardware from your window? I need to change the drivers side glass in my 74 duster. Bought a new amd glass and have no idea how to remove the existing hardware from the old window. Looks like a metal washer on each side with a plastic insert with a threaded stud. I see they sell new kits but they dont look the same.

As I recall I think you have to move or remove the regulator and also the bottom screw at the ends of the guide. You get the regulator rollers off the window track and also the bottom of the guides kind of spread out so you can get the window out. It should come out with the metal strip on the bottom of it, but you need to get the regulator out of it and that requires you I believed to unscrew the regulator from the inner door panal.

Yes one more thought about it here and unscrewing the regulator allows it to go far enough to roll off the track and then it will release the window.

I've actually got the window out. It's the studs that are through the window that are still attached when the window is removed. Mine has 5 of them.

You have to roll the window when you pull it out towards the outside of the door quite a bit to clear the studs, make sure you remove the metal adjusting strip along the top of the door 1st I think there are five bolts dont know the name of it.

Make sure this piece is out of the way before removing the glass

I've already removed the old glass from the car. Just wondering how the threaded studs come out of the glass so I can reuse for the new glass. Didnt know if you had to remove yours from the glass or know how.
