I inherited my father's old Winchester model 12 20ga pump. Never thought much about it, was in a dark corner of a local small pawn/ gunstore, and here was some buck for the 20ga. I bought it all. Then I came home and searched, and a 20ga at close range is pretty impressive. More power than a .44 mag.

Plus I learned how quick it is to break them down, just like in the movie "Bullitt" (that was an earlier exposed hammer, 1897?)

20 ga is formidable. Velocities and shot capacity very similar to a 12ga. I traded into a 20ga "youth model" Mossberg, short tube and short stock. Fit me in a very comfy manner. Took it to the trap range one day with my boss and killed 17 pigeons in my first attempt ever. "What have you got there? Gimme that" says the boss who was a very accomplished trap shooter. He got 19 birds. "I like it. It points so easy" he says.
