Well if you read the ad, it reads as if not only the Julian Date is there but also the partial VIN. Was there a second place on these engines for the partial VIN? I was not aware of such.

No, of course not. It’s a lame attempt to try to match this motor with the car. With the numbers ground off, there is no way to link this motor to the car. The Julian date, if any, would be cast into the block, which makes no sense, and would not tie this motor to the car anyway, even if it happened to be the same day as the car was assembled. And as for the acid test, for $1.2 large, would you leave that job up to the “next owner”?
