After too many years, am putting 833 back onto rebuilt 340 engine. What lube to put on clutch splines & pilot bush. I sprayed them with Dry Graphite Film and don't want too much grease to fling on disc. Also which side does long part of spline hub go toward? Thanks for help.

I have never lubed either. The pilot bushing is oil impregnated and I never worried about the splines. The clutch disc will have a sticker or be etched on it which way it goes.

If it doesn't say "flywheel side", the flattest side goes to the flywheel. Lay it on the flywheel and you'll see why.
I put a tiny bit of anti-seize on every spline and a touch of hi-temp grease in the hole. Then I prefit the disc to the splines and rub the grease out; then wipe off any excess. Same with that which I put in the hole; I have a pilot I made from an 833 input I stripped off, that I stick in there, and then pull out, and wipe off anything that comes out.
That's what I do.
