I went to a local car cruise with my 64 Dart GT on Saturday. And, the "Original Police" showed up an commented that my plastic clear view fuel filter was not original. How do other members handle Original Police Clowns?

Ask to see their car. Most of them don't even own a vintage car, they show up with there idiot buddies in Moms minivan parked out of sight! Or you could tell them to F-Off, that usually works.

Jeff

They missed the tires :)

Just kidding. Don't let it get to you. Just smile at them.

My car received a lot of attention and a professional photographer was snapping pictures of my car.

Looks like you didn't get the bring your mustang memo...

I don't do many shows or cruises and rarely pop my hood at them (I think my car looks better with the hood down) My car is far from original so I don't get much of that but there is always some expert that "use to have one" that you just ignore.

Gave up car shows a while ago. Unless there happens to be one going on at the race track. Then I’ll walk around and check out a few but when I drive my car somewhere like that I usually just park with the spectators or I am racing it.

Resto Nazi’s!

Hate’em, truly a dick headed bunch.

One mention of an item like that I i stay calm with a reply like;

Yes sir that is correct along with a LOT of other parts. However, take note that this is not, I repeat, NOT a restoration but just a vehicle I like to drive.
I’m not interested in doing a restoration thanks.

Why? Because that’s my prerogative. A resto becomes a museum piece and I’d rather have a driver. By the way, where is your car?

It helps to have a group of friends that live on busting Resto Nazi’s balls.

If YOU are after a 100% original look take these comments as constructive criticism, I
could give a crap less and would only be pissed off at him. You only have to please
yourself.

Original Police - "That fuel filter is not original!"
Me - "Yes I know, and I prefer it that way. Now run along and find someone else to piss off"

Tell them " opinions are buttholes, everyone has one, but yours stinks"

Well here is the Wegmans Grocery Store CNY Cars and Coffee Facebook page: CNY Cars 'n Coffee

I wish I knew how to make a Meme to post to their page. My idea is 2 police officers playing good original cop and bad original cop.

Momus meme creator app, I think it's available for both Android and iPhone

I'd most likely say ( in my cars' case) "Neither is the gas that is in it."
"And since you are the one who brought it to my attention, the motor oil, transmission and rear end lube, radiator coolant and windshield wipers are not original either.
Anything else you would like to add ?? "

They usually go away mumbling to themselves and pointing back at me to their buddies after they are about 30 feet away.

Gotta love it.
DO NOT let them get to you.

Just keep your eye on them so one of them doesn't come back and run something sharp down the side. Saw it happen one time (not to me tho)

I just play dumb and say, "I thought it was a Mustang and that's what the counter guy at AutoZone gave me.It looks just like the one on my 64 Camaro."
Most of the time I just ignore the comment.
Had a guy once tell me he would buy my car but the hood pad is missing.W-DA-F !!!

I keep a laminated copy of this in my glovebox and lay it on my dash over my VIN.

BrianT's sign says it all, you could also say "I built mine, I didn't buy it!". Smile at the offender & calmly engage someone close by in a conversation.

and tell them that the tires hold the original air. You’ll be amazed at the looks you’ll get. By the way, nice Dart.

Tell them that’s ur anti theft. It will descinagrate if stolen, lock the doors, catch fire, and burn to the ground with them in it. Kim
