Oil pump

Ask your engine builder what sort of clearances he is going to use. The larger the clearances then the more volume you'll need. Race engines usually get the HV pump. You can adjust the oil pressure by changing the spring or shimming the spring. The high pressure spring is usually too high so I often use a standard spring with a shim or two. There is no standard answer, it all depends on clearances and how the engine is going to be used. Operating temp and oil weight also make a difference.
thank you Andy. And everyone else. I want and need the correct amount of oil prrssure. But I didnt want to use extra unneeded horsepower either to drive a big pump that I don't , or didn't need either . I'm my engine builder . I've typically used high volume. Just thought I would ask this time. Thanks to everyone .
