I’ve got a 65 Cuda with a /6 and a fresh battery. When I turn the key I get no lights, no radio and no start - nothing electrical works - pretty new to wiring engines and wondering where to begin. Thanks

Battery cables.

They might look ok, the terminals might even look clean but it could be corroded to the core behind the insulation.

Check the fusable link for a break or soft spot or the bulkhead connector under the dash or in the engine compartment to make sure it's properly connected...

1)Get a factory wiring schematic.
2)Learn to read it properly
3)A test light and DVOMeter go a long way.

So far so good, suggestions wise

Download manuals free, from MyMopar. Several of those, there, came from the guys right here. Also aftermarket wiring diagrams there

A decent "quick" diagram on the primary power distro is from the MAD ammeter mod article. That diagram gives a good overview of the main power

NOTICE there is NO FUSE to feed the ignition switch or headlight switch. The ONLY protection is the fuse link. So if you don't have anything at all with "headlights" or nothing at all with key in "run" or "accessory" there is only so much in the functional path that it can be..........

Battery terminals/ clamps/ cables.......and the other end of the cable, including ground

Bad connection at the starter relay, or fuse link. BAD CONNECTION THROUGH the firewall connector. Bad connection at the ammeter. Rare, but the welded splice can fail

Thanks everyone I downloaded a manual and had a look at the fusible link. It was burnt so I made a new one and installed it, hooked the battery back up and now the lights work and it fired right up

You might want to take some effort and try to find WHY. Those rarely fail, and sometimes, the harness fails FIRST. In other words they are poor protection. some of these girls (yours might be one) get old and still wear their original factory issued link. My 67 was original.

Look for something melted, smell, etc, look for bare harnesses, and suspect the alternator / alternator area.

Did you accidently "spark" anything, or maybe connec a charger or jumper cables backwards?

Ok good to know. I just got this car and don’t know the history or if something got “sparked” This is first time I’ve seen it start and have power. Ill investigate the alternator area. Thanks

Since the car is new to you...be sure to check the bulkhead connector on the firewall.
Especially the heavy black and red wires. See post #8 above.
Well known problem area in vintage Mopars.
4secondsflat.com has articles on this.

I like driving my cars without having to worry about things so my red and black wires bypass the connector.
