Postal money order?

I can see where a prolific seller might prefer PP. As a buyer, I'll probably continue to use USPS. I don't like paying the PP fees, and I don't like paying the added fees/interest charged by credit cards on these purchases. So I pay cash for the USPS mo. What I like to do for the seller is to take pic of the USPS mo I just purchased and email it to the seller, so that he can see the "goods" in advance of his receiving payment, so he's in the loop and knows it's for real.
I think some people are conflating USPS mo's with Cashiers Checks, and other private mo companies, which are more commonly forged.

Before all the electronic methods of paying came to be, there was three options ,check cash or Postal Money orders. Postal Money Orders were considered the best, safest way to pay. Now days? You just can't trust any method. Deposit it and wait till it clears or go the the PO and cash it. Just a sign of the times.
Sad thing is if the buyer is up front, he is waiting on parts to arrive. How many scams have you heard of, buyer sends the payment, no parts arrive.
It’s a two way street, I have had excellent luck on buying off this site, but I only buy from well known members.

There is a big difference between a United States Postal Money Order which is backed by the US government and a normal money order that one would obtain at a bank or elsewhere.
To me a USPS money order is as good as cash. When I have received them I cash them at the post office and use a portion of the cash to paid for the postage of the item I sold - Perfect.
A regular money order I treat as a check & wait for it to clear the bank.

If its a small amount you can usually cash them at a post office on the spot. Then you dont have to wait for the money to clear the bank. Money orders were always the most secure way to accept payment but these days they can be faked so you have to be careful. The post office can scan it and will know right away that its real.

I understand that he is also taking a gamble on me sending the parts but if you look at my feedback, I think it shows I'm a stand up guy.

The buyer is ok with me cashing the MO before I ship out parts so i think we gonna be ok.

Thank for everyone's advice. Like I said I just wanted to make sure this was a legit way to do business for both me and him.

Looks like we're all good.

Thanks again!

Good as cash. Cash at almost any post office. I once sold a pistol grip and had to go to three different post offices before I got one that had enough cash on hand.

I agree with the above!

I have bought many, many parts off of other members of this site, and also Moparts….and have paid for all of them exclusively with USPS money orders. I always ask the buyer for a cell number, and text a pic of the money order filled out in their name before I drop it in the mail. I think I will now start taking a pic of the receipt from the post office where I buy it, and send them that as well. A USPS money order costs the same, no matter if it's for $2 or $2000. I respect anyone's decision not to take that form of payment, but it just works best for me.

Have your part ready to ship, when you get the Postal Money order take everything to the post office,
they will cash the money order on the spot if they have enough cash on hand and then you can ship the part out while your there if your shipping through the US Postal system.

This^^^^^^^

this is what I do and it works great.....don't even have to go to the bank

Our post office in Gray, Georgia is very small. I've been told to go to the bank almost every time with money orders in the past because "of all the problems we've had with fake ones". lol They won't even take their own money order. And the thing is, all they have to do is punch it up in their system and they can FIND the serial number and verify that it's real, but they "don't like" doing that. No, it's Paypal for me or I will just miss out.

nonsense...you must be in the sticks....do they even have a computer? or still using tablet and pencil

Why not just go to your bank, they will cash them.

I wouldn't mail very quickly, a usps money order or shipment can be stopped up to a certain point !
Paypal buyer protection , worth every penny !
