432 vs 360

The HP difference makes me a bit nervous but it wont be the first time I've "fought up".

My chassis is dialed, his is stock...

If he spins out the hole and has to let out, I'm gone.

I raced had a "grudge race" with a guy at a test and tune ~ 7 years ago. Winner got tickets to the big race the following weekend. He was bragging about his 670 hp dyno sheet (newer GTO, supercharged) and how he would crush my naturally aspirated small block. I told him my car was a bracket car, and my ~520 ish hp small block (due to air conditions) would run a 10.7x. He sneered and he insisted that he had way more power, and it would not be fair..... When the tree came down my wheels went up and I didn't see him again till the return road. I ran my usual 10.7, he ran 11.5 at close to 130mph, lol. Just goes to prove, you can't race a dyno :p
 
I think the biggest thing here is you GOTTA stay calm during the launch. You have the proper tires and gearing, so if you blow that advantage you're screwed. You've got this! Just pretend it's a practice run where you're giving it your all. Good luck and be safe!
 
I will add, if you are not at a track you may be in trouble...since you won't have the grip out of the hole.

To my understanding, Cope hasn't had his car to the track. They all saying "11's", but could be 10's, or could be 13's. All we have is "on paper". Stop light wars are won on reaction and traction. A 14 second car can beat an 11 second car if the slower car hooks and the faster car sets the tires in smoke.
 
Yup. New converter is in. New CRT trans is in.

My plan is to foot break to 2500 28 or so and leave with some pump shot left in the carbs.

As much as I enjoy bagging on him hes a good friend and knows what hes doing.

If I loose I can talk smack about how much cash he has into his build. If I win, well then I get to make fun of him forever!
He BETTER know how to set that Fitech up. If he's relying on it "learning" the correct parameters then he's in for a RUDE awakening.Ask me how I know.

There's an 86 turn brown Bronco here on Craigslist for $850 with a vacuum leak I was thinking about for a flip car. But all I can think about is painting it white and going down the California freeways with helicopters and police chasing me LOL...

I remember when I had my slant 6 I was racing a mustang with a straight 6, and I put the shift lever all the way down to manually shift it. We start the race and I never shift outa 1st!! I was so caught up taking off out of the hole I forgot to shift. LOL. Lost that one.

I did the opposite, I over shifted into neutral when I got too excited about shifting... Lost that race... which won't happen the end this race because I know there's a ratchet shifter involved not a steering column shifter LOL..

I’ve raced lots of cars with their claimed HP numbers in the 800-900 hp. They barely run any faster than mine. Most cars are lighter than mine. Kim
 
Are you running 1/4 mile? I know a guy that used to work at a tire store and listened to how everybody had a car that couldn’t be beat. He drove a mid 70’s lifted short box Chevy pickup with a mild 350 and 35” tires with 3.73 gears. He’d race them 2 blocks with the truck in 4 Low and never lost a race.
 
I took $200 from a local garage owner 20 years ago. His '78ish Bronco, lifted, big tires, twin 60s, pro built 460 with a single nitrous plate. I had a 4dr Newport with a 383 with an RV DC cam, 2bbl exhaust manifolds and duals, and 175hp plate. He was stylin', and running his mouth. I said I'd get him in a quarter mile. He said dead stop to 120mph. He lost. He lost BIG. HP doesn't win street races. Driving and torque does. A big heavy truck with big hp is nothing. They ain't that quick. They ain't that fast. But the feel it sitting in it so they get swelled heads.
 
It’s only about 6pm. We have a couple more hours of daylight... I bet he’s kickin the crap out of phord dude as we speak.

Well remember how I said he likes to break stuff....

We hopped in his truck to go see his spot. Ignition switch is acting up.
Finaly get that shot box started and we go into D, we make it about 3 feet and the trans starts grinding bad. He goes to shift the column and its stuck. Like fully stuck.

Wont shift into park, wont move at all...

So instead of us racing I spent most of he day pulling his column out while he drove to Santa clara truck wreckers and got a new column.

He suppose to be racing at Sonoma tonight so being the friend that I am we spent all day tearing out his old column and putting in a new column and ignition switch.

What a pain in the ***...

This was me trying to figure out why the shifter wont move, before I said just go buy a new one....
