hi everyone, glad to be a part of the group, and a brand new Mopar owner! I picked up a ‘66 Formula S. It needs a lot of TLC, but it runs strong. First thing is a new hood, so I’m gonna jump in head first. Thanks in advance!

Welcome. Never seen a hood like that...kinda liking it!

Looks like somebody grafted a 73/74 Road Runner power bulge to the stock hood. Kinda cool.

I don’t mind the look of this hood, but the fit & finish leave ALOT to be desired. I’m gonna have a pro check it out, but it looks like it has a lot of thick bondo work. Also, the guy I bought it from yesterday, forgot to pin the hood down after he got it washed, & crinkled the top corners pretty good, as well as creased the valance pretty good when the hood came flying up...

Can you show a full picture of the car with that hood. I always wanted to see what our earlies looked like with something like that. Thanks

Welcome from the Land of Lincoln, the first generation "Cudas" are my favorite. You came to the right forum plenty of good people and advice.

Thanks for all the support & suggestions. It definitely looks like I’m in the right place to help me get this old girl back where she should be. Here are all my soon to be “before” pictures. I already took the “diy” air cleaner off & put on a Holley. Today’s schedule is replace both motor mounts, so I can take off those super safe chains that are holding the motor in right now, and correct exhaust manifold gaskets. It leaks like crazy with whatever gaskets he put on. There is a few more pics of the hood & the damage. I’m not a body guy, but it’s full of spray foam & im assuming bondo, the trim pieces aren’t uniform and now it’s damaged. I like the look, just wondering if it’s worth the trouble, or should I cut my losses & replace it.

OOf, that hood looks like its in need of professional help. I bet a 66 hood would look just fine. I like that air cleaner. Man, did the hood damage happen after you bought it? That's a bummer. Are those rims 15"? I just picked up 2. 15's in a 5 on 4 pattern are hard to come by.

The previous owner did that to the hood hours before I bought it. I think I’ll go factory, or a fiberglass option. The wheels are 15’s.

Id reroute that fuel line too. Dont want it to run over an exhaust with that 3 piece filter.

Get rid of that glass filter while you are at it. They crack too easily and are fire hazards. Just my opinion on the hood, hammer that corner back in place, touch it up with some silver paint that looks similar and worry bout the hood later, after you get the smaller items sorted out.

Another '66 saved...Good Job!...Welcome aboard!
...like mentioned a by a few people already...hammer out the hood and DEFINITELY PITCH THE GLASS FILTER AND REROUTE THE FUEL LINE, ASAP!!!
